I saw this beautiful 250TR revival, work done by GTO engineering of which they work with my dealer Ogara. I briefly spoke with my manager asking about price, of which he said was asking around $1 mil. It’s a stunning piece of work.
Thoughts on the cars GTO engineering revives? Do they hold value?

Buy it! Stunning and you can hot rod it without paying an insurance premium on a $30 million car.

In the end they are replicas, with no history. Don't think they will hold value.

The GTO Engineering cars are extremely well made. They seem to hold their value on second hand ones that have come up for sale. You shouldn’t loose any money unless the originals plummet into the floor which is unlikely. With originals worth in excess of $40million any replica of these cars is going to command a decent price tag.

I don’t think they will loose much value but doubt they will appreciate any either.

Interesting points on all ends. Does anyone know how many replica 250 TR’s were made?
    It’s such a beautiful car…

I assure you, when the real cars go up in value the best recreations made with ferrari part also follow in value. Cheaper than an F40 and prob more fun

there are some junk ones out there, and GTO seems to make the best ones, I almost bought a SWB from them and kind of regret it now

Good to know… sounds like you researched GTO engineering’s work. Curious why you didn’t pull the trigger?

I am biased as they are building my swb as I type (Gto) but go for it! Not sure how much it will appreciate but I am keeping a colombo v12 on the road and it’s original from the donor gte so I don’t think it will drop much. Plan on giving to my kiddo so not really worried about it. Plenty will give u grief but u will drive yours which is a lot better than the garage queen originals.

Totally get this, I see almost no point in having a car in a garage never to be used. Driving them is for me 90% of the pleasure of owing one.

was afraid at the time to spend that much money on one, this was pre covid, real cars were a lot cheaper, now I regret it. Now I'm priced out

    They are disgusting.
Stealing the work of others to profit from is scum of the earth stuff.

I have no problem with them, beautiful work, but I heard they have stopped making them (or at least taking orders) for a while.

The only problems I see are that someone might mistakenly think I am taking a $40M car for coffee on a Sunday morning and decide to, uh, follow me back to the warehouse where I keep my cars, and the fact that as I understand it is not based on an existing vintage car chassis number, I cannot register it here where I live in Italy. I know someone with a replica 250SWB here based on a donor car; he says that if he puts a Ferrari badge on its nose and takes it to a car show, he expects a letter from Ferrari, but I am not sure why.

For the $1M I could probably buy two real cars (Daytona, BB512) that are also quite interesting. Neither will gain (or lose) much value, but they are real.

Hello Rodz, not to be argumentative, yet Singer Porsche comes to mind, they seem to do rather well, and hold, actually are very pricey.
One just sold for a touch over 3 million, not peanuts for an outfit that: Is "Stealing the work of others to profit from is scum of the earth stuff."

Do you opine same about them? "Scum of the earth" ? Disgusting? ..... I might agree with you about sacrificing a GTE
(that we do not know, if it was a worthless hulk, salvageable, not more) and building a TR around it,
but the outcome appears rather nice, and rather distinctive.
So I would not mind either a Singer Porsche, or a GTO engineering ...... , which by any standard, are both very reputable outfits .

As they say, to each, their own.

    Regards, Alberto

I know it’s a replica, I was wondering if it was a GTO Engineering one.

OK, I apparently misunderstood, but let’s hope no real Ferraris were butchered/sacrificed for it, as that would make its existence even sadder.

I forgot about the 250 Testa Rossa replicas they did, one of which was actually the subject of the original post of this thread.

Personally I appreciate the build of this car. Looks very well done. Sort of like a print of "The Mona Liza".
However please don't call it a Ferrari, it isn't. I can definitely side with Ferrari Spa when they take action
against people pretending they have a Ferrari when they don't, so plaster badges all over the car.
It is not about the quality of the build, could be better or worse than the original. That does not matter.

This car ought not to have ANY Ferrari badging, unless on the cam covers, if identifiable as a Ferrari motor.
The hood emblem is effrontery, and the owner.....ahhh.....the owner thinks it is a Ferrari?

Totally delusional, and a poseur.
