No worries. In this thread I am talking about a 296 gtb. My son installed the controller last night in about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, it isn’t nearly the change compared to the f8….as noted by others. It’s similar to the 812 gts but even that is more dramatic. If you take a flashlight and look at the exhaust you can see that the flaps don’t open and close. They are always open and just open more when they are in full open mode. U can see this when u turn the car on and while it’s heating the cat they are all the way open and then close half way. On the f8 it’s a literal open and close and when open there is another pipe that flows freely. My son said he could tell the difference while driving but it’s subtle. I am ordering up the full kit from redstar and willl try the cats first then the whole exhaust. I don’t want it much loader so I will have to experiment. The downside to redstar is they have no flaps at all so I have to make sure there isn’t a drone etc. the car does sound so great already so I may flip back and just stay the course and not order.

I installed the Capristo controller. If I do the exhaust path, right now it would be redstar as there is no way I am doing a tune and I hate have to clear the obd w other brands. Redstar claim there is no CEL. I don’t, which makes me a little nervous. Are you looking to do the same?

yes exactly the same. but when i talked with them they sounded convincing, but would not put me in contact with anyone who had done their exhaust. all these companies have these 20 some year old smooth talkers on the phone that remind me f those guys selling pyramid insurance schemes when they call old ladies. i don't trust them.

i am not putting 15k on the line based on that.

I haven’t and think I will pass. I have the flap controller on which from the outside makes a difference albeit relatively slight. I think part of the trick with this car is does have a hot tube into the cockpit and I am not sure what stage of the exhaust it ports off. What sealed it for me was walk the other night my wife and I were walking the dog in a park a couple blocks from home and I heard my son driving the car (not hard) from a couple of blocks away and sure enough he drove by and I said to her, I think that’s loud enough and she said…yep. I am living in a small town in Sonoma while I am building a house a little more in the country up here. Trying to not be “that guy” ;)

I am going to try the Full Exhaust. Down the rabbit hole, we go. We may start with just cat-back and see if we get codes, then put in the high-flow cats and pray for no limp mode or CEL.

Hello, could you please answer a few questions for me? I would really appreciate it.
    1. Can you install this controller without removing the rear bumper and install from the top engine bay?
    2. How long have you had yours installed and do you still have no error codes whatsoever?
    3. I was thinking of a controller by ASR who people seem to love and they are very good cost. Have you heard?
    4. Would you 100% do this modification again?

For answer #2 I've heard just the controller by itself doesn't throw any codes or void warranty

    Hi Ryan
    Here are my comments.

Hello, could you please answer a few questions for me? I would really appreciate it.
    1. Can you install this controller without removing the rear bumper and install from the top engine bay? - yes, no removal of the bumper and installed from the topside
    2. How long have you had yours installed and do you still have no error codes whatsoever? Mine has been on for months now, I don’t recall the exact date, and no codes at all. I have had on a number of other Ferraris and have never had and issue.
    3. I was thinking of a controller by ASR who people seem to love and they are very good cost. Have you heard? Haven’t heard of them. I have and have had the capristo
    4. Would you 100% do this modification again? 100%. It has actually gotten better as the exhaust is now more broken in.

So far we are running into multiple issues and that’s just doing the Cat Back. I see many 296 aftermarket exhausts for sale but the issues always seem to come down to the same problem the O2 Sensors. There does not seem to be connections for all of those wires from stock to aftermarket. If anyone has had any luck getting it to run, please PM me with what system you purchased and how the issues were address during install. It sounds amazing with just the Catback but you get Limp mode and other issues that keep the car from accepting the aftermarket much slimmed down system that seems to be missing just a few either O2 sensor spacers to stock replacements.

Does the 296 have the particulate filter for the US? If so, can the guts be removed to provide better flow?

For comparison Porsche doesn't put GPF on USA cars but they do build in the same back pressure in the system to tune the engine. It gets very complicated when you change that back pressure in a system designed for it.

May be worth trying capristo 250 cell cats. Retains gpf, and likely won’t trigger an O2 cel.

I’ve gone through the same problem myself and after a lot of trial and error, I was finally able to solve it completely. Sharing my exact working setup below, which you might find helpful. I have full Novitec exhaust system.

You need two key; Novitec G-Tronic and Tectronic. These two modules work together to properly manage the O2 sensor signals and prevent the ECU from triggering limp mode.

If your exhaust has valves/flaps, you may also need to install Novitec Switchtronic, which allows manual control and ensures the system communicates correctly with the ECU during dynamic valve operation.

@Dgr the Novitec Gtronic device is new and I have been very interested in hearing some feedback on it. Can you tell us how it’s connected and to what? How it’s working for you? Do you have both Downpipes and Catback? Race exhaust or mini cats?

I have auto Flap control built in and move the actuators to the new system. That fixed a bunch of problems. I want those flaps wide open.

I have the soul speed full system now too and I can report it does not work. Not with 2M fabrication cat emulators, or extensions. Big Daddy same thing. But now I only get 2 codes where before I pulled 7.

The Novitec Tectronic device is not new and is on it 3rd iteration and now it’s no longer for sale. Because all it did was wipe the codes when they came up. But just doing that does not get the car out of Turtle and Limp mode. You need to stop and completely power down. Open the doors. Let the system turn off before that goes away. So it has never been a solution. I have a code reader that wipes and it pulls the 2 codes I get of the Downstream 02 sensors being out of parameters. So it must be the Tectronic system vs the ODB wiper. At least given my experience at this point.

I have yet to find a single vendor when pushed that says they have a complete solution for a Race Setup or even Downpipes. Just Catback. Which might be where I stay because the titanium Catback with no mufflers sounds amazing. But it does sound better with the Downpipes. Has that deeper throaty growl.

Let’s just all pray for a tune. Once we can tune the 296 the sky is the limit. Like the SF90.

296 GTB, Z06 and ZR1, Masseriti MC20 all use that Bosch ECU and nobody has unlocked it yet. But sounds like it’s coming sooner than later.

sounds like you may have a Unicorn @Dgr but I would love to discuss it. I would love to hear how you got it all working @Dgr. You can DM me if you want to chat offline.

Amelia did not do anything but swap the actuators when she ran into these issues in her 2 part video. But I think there is more going on in those videos than meets the eye.

That’s different that what I have been told which is a simple “controller” actually voids the warranty on any GPF Ferrari.
