I usually wash and detail my cars myself. But I recently purchased a Mercedes with a factory Matt grey paint. Am at Lavaggio in calabasas just getting a wash. What do you tip these guys?

Usually $5-$10. If one guy does an exceptional job, he’ll get the $10 and I’ll ask for him each time I go.

What does a wash cost there? That’s a boujie area.

My local regular car wash in Santa Clarita is $30 for a hand wash. For $35-$40 I’ll defiantly wash my cars myself. I hate doing my dually truck, but that would be more than $30 for someone to hand wash that anyways.

My wife just got an AMG SL55 convertible. She won’t let anyone near it, let alone wash it.

Thanks, you are right, the place is very boogie, but wow they do an amazing job. For a hand wash it was $79, the guy spent an hour on the car. I have gone to my local car washes on occasions for my other daily and had a hand wash for $50, tip $10. This guy I tipped $20, I was shocked at the time and detail he took. Not sure if that is how they all do hand washes there, but this guy was good. Probably tipped too much.

If your car will stay clean for a while and he did a great job, meh. It would have taken you 2-3 hours to do a great wash/detail.

We live on a dirt road on horse property so the dailys get washed in the driveway every week. The fancy cars stay in the garage with covers on them, except when being driven.

We’d go broke paying someone else to wash our cars lol.

Ever think about having someone come to your house to do it? It would probably be the same price that you paid at the car wash.

I have, usually I enjoy washing and detailing my cars myself. But the Matte finish is something new to me, I know the products I have are not meant for a Matte finish. Waiting on my order to be fulfilled specifically for this finish. Once in a while it's worth it to sit back and have someone else do it. I will say, the place does really nice work. Not something I will be doing often but certainly often enough. Thanks to all who responded.
