    Hi,
I reading this forum for a while now and it was very helpful for me to install my child seats in the back of my new Lusso. Thanks for that!
I just got my beautiful 2016 GTC4Lusso :) a few days ago and I was wondering about a couple of things and hope that you guys could help me out.

    a) First and foremost the front lid of the centre console. It just doesn't stay up. Not just a little bit - zero, it falls down immediately. I have to use two hands or my ellbow to use this storage room. It's really annoying as this is my daily driver and I use this storage room twice a day. The back lid stays up a little bit at an angle of about 45°. What is normal? How to fix it?

    b) There is a red cord in the footwell of the passenger side (LHD car). What the hell is that? It looks like the emergecy cord of a nursing home :)

    c) The lid of the rear cup holder: Is there a special mechanic that retracts the lid back to close? Or do you have to close it actively the whole way back? Because I can feel some resistance doing that.

    d) The starter needs one and a half seconds too long to start the engine for my taste. The crankshaft is turning
really two and a half seconds before the engine starts. As I mentioned before: Daily driver, so I don't use the charger at all. The V8 of my 2023 Portofino M starts instantaneously - Bam, but it is on the the charger all the time. Is this delay a Ferrari V12 thing or should I use the charger anyway (although user's guide tell that you should use the charger if you don't use the car for more than a week)?

I really appreciate your input and help - Thanks!

    a) This is normal - I agree, it's super annoying
    b) Not sure - pull it? Maybe a release for the glovebox?
    c) Also normal - mine is stiff also
    d) Let the fuel pumps prime all the way before starting it. When you open the driver's door, you'll hear a buzz/whine for like 5+ seconds. Once that stops, fire it up. It'll start quicker.

Even if you daily drive it, I'd leave it on the tender every night.

    Great - Thanks a lot!
I will check the 5+ seconds buzzing thing tomorrow.
And I won‘t pull anywhere - especially not a RED (!) cord in a Ferrari. Red means danger in my world. :)

First off, congratulations! Lusso is awesome!

    a- agree this is normal

b- this is the emergency release for the glove box, as its electronically actuated they provide you a mechanical open. On older models you could tuck this up under the dash, not sure if you can on the Lusso.

c- rear cupholder cover is a manual movement and should not feel like theres an abnormal amount of resistance

d- my car needs a tiny amount of extra cranking too. If it gets longer, you should look into replacing the battery. How long is your typical drive and also what is the drive like? These cars have “smart” alternators. It only charges the battery if you are coasting. If your drives are not very long (I would define this as under 30 minutes) then you are slowly reducing the amount of charge in the car. I would try using the tender just to see if there is any difference in the cranking behavior. I would say use the tender if you are not using the car for more than 2 days. These cars will use the battery quite a bit more than other cars when they are parked.

    Thank you.
I could tuck the cord under the dash.
This morning it was the same pretty long cranking of about two or two and a half seconds. Tender was used all night long and I waited for about 10 seconds after I switched on the ignition.
The Lusso is my daily driver, means short runs all the time, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 15 or 30 minutes.

I think it just does take a little longer to get the car cranked. If you notice the time increasing or if you are just concerned beyond writing on f-chat, have the dealer, or your mechanic, do a battery analysis. If you plug it in and the battery tender goes green fairly quickly, Id say within 30 minutes, there is a chance you have some bad cells in the battery. A battery with bad cells will behave just like a normal battery, except, it will show green on the tender faster, since the tender only sees the good cells, and it will often have just enough juice to crank the engine.

With every car, it takes a certain amount of energy to crank the engine to life, its actually quite a lot, and it probably takes a good 30-40 minutes of driving around to replace that energy. So if your driving around is several short drives, you have in effect ended up with a net negative on the battery. Thats why you should plug it in to the tender. Keep in mind the Lusso is really an upgraded FF and the FF and Lusso are really like an extended wheelbase F12, a sports car that probably doesnt get a ton of miles, thus they include a tender.

The included tender is ok but I would recommend you replace it with the CTek 7002, if you do, youll need to get the Ferrari style connector, this is easily findable on Amazon and e-bay. If your Lusso has HELE (Ferrari’s version of start/stop) (I bet it does) Make sure you use the snowflake / image of an AGM battery/ mode. AGM batteries need a different voltage than standard lead acid batteries.

A lot of problems with these cars come down to the battery, so if you are seeing anything a little weird, it’s better to be proactive and address the battery, than be stranded. I one time took my family out for a 90 minute drive to visit friends. 10 minutes from their house, we stopped for gas. We had just driven for 90 minutes, the stop start was off so it would be charging the battery as much as possible, this trip was a lot of highway driving also…. And… after filling up with gas, the car would not start! I was able to jump it and then get to my friends house, we left it there, went around his town with him, and then when we went to go home, the Lusso fired right up. Got home, had the dealer come get it, they checked the battery and found bad cells. The point is a bad battery can surprise you and leave you in a bad spot, so if you have a little voice in your head asking whats going on, its worth checking out (probably good advice for anything actually)

    Wow. That's wild, Caeruleus11
Thank you very much for these detailed information!
I made an video and sent it to the Ferrari dealer and he will double check with their mechanics as 2025 service was made 12 days ago and Approved check list was performed last week (!!!).
It is not very helpful if you HAVE to use your tender EVERY night. Once again, this is a daily driver. That means that I might be out for a whole (romatic...;)) weekend with my wife and won't be at home but in a nice hotel somewhere in the middle of nowhere, where I will not bring my charging device and where I really don't want to worry about if the bloody 250 K nine year old Italian horse cart can be brought to life or not after three days of not charging.
The manual says that you only need to plug it in if it's not used for more than a week for God's sake. And we are talking about EVERY NITE! Oh boy! :p

Congrats on the new-to-you Lusso! I love mine, to the point that I kept it and traded an F8 Tributo I had for something else because the sound was that much better.

As others have said, the center console lid falling down is normal. Same goes for the red string in the passenger footwell.

Also like others have said, I recommend that you put it on the battery maintainer each night, even if it’s a daily driver. You might need to clean the contacts periodically, as the rear of the car gets pretty dirty. I make sure the maintainer is actually working by waiting a few seconds for the second LED to go on. If you hear the maintainer clicking a lot, see a blinking LED, or the LEDs fail to quickly advance to the second one, you should clean the contacts. I use a paper towel with a little vinegar. My dealer recommended some steel wool, but that seems too abrasive.

The V12s are very sensitive to voltage. During a particularly cold spell, the dealer said many of their V12 cars in for service had issues with warning lights (see below)

The cranking is also normal, from what I’ve been told. My dealer said the V12s need to build up some oil pressure before starting, if I remember correctly. I also think I read somewhere on this forum that it’s for show, ie it’s not necessary to crank that long, but customers like it. Not sure if that’s true.

When you go to start the car, are you first pushing the starter button with your foot off the brake? The dealer said this needs to be done, otherwise you may get a lot of warning lights. You should push the button with your foot off the brake so the electrical systems are turned on, but the engine hasn’t started. The warning lights should come on, and then most of them should go out. Then it’s ok to put your foot on the brake and push the start button again to fire up the engine.

    Enjoy!

More details about the snowflake mode?

I have the CTEK 7002 and use it every day. I daily drive the car as well.

You can download the user manual here. If you go to the different modes, this is what it says for the snowflake/ battery mode... you need this if your car has an AGM battery, as they need the 14.7 volts vs the 14.4 of more typical car batteries. Doesn't seem like a big deal when you look at the numbers, but I've had people who understand electricity better than I tell me that the 0.3V is actually a big deal, and your AGM battery won't be very happy with charging at 14.4V. If your car has stop/start (HELE in Ferrari speak) then you have an AGM battery- unless you have a Lithium battery which is in the Pista and some F8s, the SP3, etc. Ferrari makes it fairly idiot proof to not mix up the tenders for these cars because the polarity is reversed so, a tender like the 7002 would just show you a fault; or using the included Ferrari branded CTek 3300 Lithium would not work with a car with a non Lithium battery.

You'll soon realize that the pedestal that the general populace puts these cars on is unwarranted lol. I love mine and it's fun as hell, but the "engineering" and quality of the electronics leave a bit to be desired. People just kind of put up with the quirks...
