Like it or not, if the July 9th tariff stand from the US government indicates a long term 25%-45% tariff that appears to be long term, there will probably be a price rise across many used recent models that are already in the US. Such as the 296 and the SF90. Auto import tariffs could move from 25% to 40%-50%. Also, state governments love tariffs and are not making any negative noise about this. It's an automatic state sales tax boost for them.

It likely tracks the # of wealthy families (>$50M) that have been enriched by the wealth creation via equity markets since 2019. Quantitative easing (money printing) and M2 money supply growth has driven those with equity portfolios to make large auto (and art) purchases.

On July 10, 2019, the S&P 500 passed 3,000. Today, five years later it is at 6,000+. Thats a CAGR of almost 15%. Also, today, personalization (options, etc) are 19% of MSRP..so 25% of the price, pre-MSRP. Ferrari is not building a LOT more cars. They are getting a lot more revenue and profit per car.

Tach isn't as big a deal as adjusting the mirrors or using Carplay (separate touchpad to control like some high line 2010s cars would have been less bad).

Really tach is just an optimization with LED wheel and just hearing the engine, much easier to tell where it is rev wise than Roma or F8

Last I tried (been a while) the race mode HUD rev counter seemed to 1) have some delay and 2) only show the very highest RPM range. Am I misremembering?

I have never seen the delay, though I tend to use the HUD mainly for the approaching corner angle – better than a co-driver :)

I'm not big fan of him,but that sums up a lot the price crisis with the latest hybrid models as 296gtb,sf90 and not only...Purosangue presented as SUV in price range 500k+ (even with V12 engine) is a joke in the car market worldwide

Not sure about a delay. Yes- only highest rev range- which is adequate for me for shifting. I only recently switched to this view.

I agree and disagree. Im not confused, I promise. :p

I agree with you logically, you can work with it, most of the time when you are driving. But I sometime like to have the car play screen going with waze so I can see road conditions, and now I can’t see the tach? Its part of my enjoyment. I get around this by leaving waze running and flip back to the tach screen, as waze will announce road hazards. Yet, in my older cars like 812 I can keep waze going no problem. GTC4 Lusso? I have a central touch screen. Same for Portofino. Why didn’t they stick with this for the newer cars?

Yes you have the LEDs, which are great, and also you have the HUD, for those who use it. I have it in other cars, but in the Ferrari, I turn it off. I don’t want to have the same thing I have in other cars, and to me, more displays is just cheap. I actually found I enjoyed the 296 more when I turned off the HUD. Admittedly, this is 100% subjective.

However, I think the experience of owning a sports car, or really, any car that you enjoy beyond simple A-B transport, is only about ⅓ the driving. Another ⅓ is all the intangible stuff, like looking at it in your garage. When I look at an 812, or any prior model, I can look into the cockpit and see the tachometer. Waiting to fire to life. Reminding me of what lurks beneath. With the newer cars I just see a blank screen. For me, it is simply not the same. I don’t think Im alone. And I do think this is a problem for when you walk by all these cars at the dealer because they are all sitting there with these blank screens, pardon me for getting a little carried away, but it’s like being at a table with someone who has a blank expression, you don’t really want to engage with that person.

The other ⅓ is the financial side, which we’ve covered a lot.

It’s just my opinion, but I say screens are cheap, everywhere, the opposite of luxury or interesting. While it’s overdone, Bugatti seems to have figured this out.

Btw- I agree, the haptics are just awful and downright dangerous for moving the mirrors on the go. You have to do those adjustments when stopped.

I have a 296GTB and a Roma. I love the digital screens and the haptic controls. They are easy to use and make the wheel look uncluttered. Move forward everyone. Take your time to understand how they work. That’s part of the fun of a great new car!

I'm pretty sure everyone understands how they work. Change isn't always progress.

Touch screens are necessary with today's feature-rich tech. We can't have 1000 buttons in the car. And for most functions, the touch screen experience is just fine.

But, if you have to take your eyes off the road to change a commonly-used setting, that's a problem.

And, if it takes multiple clicks to reach a commonly-used setting, that's just annoying.

For these things, buttons are more convenient. And haptics don't make particularly good buttons because they can't be identified by feel.

As for appearance, that's obviously subjective. I think the pre-haptic wheels look cool. The haptics wheels do look uncluttered when clean, but when they're covered in fingerprints - as they usually are - that minimalism loses some appeal.

@pittferrari, I'd bet they fall more from here, but not precipitously. It's already a lot of car for the money. And you only live once...
