And how did he end up qualifying against his teammate today?

 

I would think so. While Alonso made it to Q2 he didn't set the charts on fire either there.

They ended up 13th Alonso vs Stroll 15th separated by just about 1/10 of a second.

A better car would move both of them forward. I have no doubt.

 

A commendable result....
Better driver, would also achieve that fwd. motion.

 

Actually 16th - so yet again behind his teammate, AND knocked out of Q1 where he continues to extend his streak there.

 

His teammate is the great Alonso, two times WDC and Lance is a midfield journeyman. What do you expect? About 1/10 of second is an honorable distance.

Just compare his gap to say Tsunoda.

 

Alonso is a great driver certainly. What we don’t know is how much his skill has declined. A more formidable teammate would give us a benchmark in the same car.

 

This aged well.

 

Put Tsunoda in the AMR and I bet he does better than Lance.

Put Lance in the Red Bull and I bet he does worse than Tsunoda.

 

And he seems intent on putting that record out of reach.

 

Stroller is a loser. Always has been. Always will be. Thats what I expect, and he doesn’t disappoint. How did Yuki get in this discussion?

 

At least he’ll be remembered for something.

 

You are comparing Stroll's results to Alonso's. Completely unfair because (as I already said) Alonso is a WDC and Lance a journeyman. But his quali difference in Zeltweg is a lot smaller than Yuki's compared to Max.

Something that apparently Red Bull noticed too so Yuki is already on his way out. Hadjar is rumored to get that seat.
