thanks for trying to help. i've never purchased a car at auction. strictly,face-to-face, typically. my past 3 cars i've purchased sight-unseen however. been most satisfied! my 328 i purchased off the showroom floor. the aventura sounds like what i've been looking for. the price displayed was more than i want to spend. that's why i didn't investigate further. i'm a novice at this for sure.
actually, i wasn't sure. Ferrari prices have been a "sleeping giant" in the last 2-3yrs.. when i bought my 328 in 2007, things were different. i hadn't really thought about a Mondial until i sold the Maserati. at that point i gave up on cabriolets and settled on the MB cab. the MB is a very nice car. it ain't no Ferrari ! like my GF says, "why would you want a 40yr. old car when you have a 2yr.old car"?
I'm 61 and I believe you are a little older. I like the extra experience of being older, but sometimes I think it's a curse to vividly remember the far lower prices of many things not too long ago. And covid blew the lid off of many things as far as pricing (not getting political). Can't find numerous contractors for things I want to have done around the house, and when one will even respond to me the quote is outrageous. You really should get in on a solid Mondial if you have the chance. I thought I would "graduate" from my '85 Mondial QV Cab to perhaps a Testarossa, back when those prices were also far lower. For a 12 cylinder Ferrari though they are still a bargain. However, it seems that since 2018 my Mondial gives me all the essence of a classic Ferrari that I need.
i appreciate your observations on my quest for a nice Mondial. now that i've sold the Maserati for the MB cabrio, my enthusiasm comes and goes. i know what i have with the Benz. could i find a Mondial that would satisfy the itch? at 73 i didn't get my 328 until i was 55. i never dreamed of selling her, but did at 69. health issues got in the way to the point i didn't drive her much. the Boxster i regretted buying. the Maserati was a marvelous find. but i thought her too ponderous. besides, my old Italian friend who was my mentor and helped take care of the 328 has passed. so....... in the long run maybe the Benz is a keeper. at least service is only 21 miles away ! i'll still keep my eyes open
