Has anyone experienced an issue getting their deposit back on their 12 Cilindri? I had a 12C Spider allocation from Ferrari Rancho Mirage that I canceled 4.5 months ago and I cannot get my $30K deposit back. I check in almost every other day and have been given every excuse under the sun as to why my check hasn’t been sent. First they couldn’t get in touch with Italy, then Italy hadn’t sent it, now the owner of the dealership in Canada wont sign it and on and on and on. Has anyone else experienced similar issues on their 12C deposit or other model deposits? I’m confused why my deposit would have gone to Italy in the first place when my allocation wasn’t up yet to begin with….?

I made a deposit on a Maserati years ago when the Ferrari was selling them.

I decided to cancel my early deposit and order a Ferrari instead. But they werent even taking deposits on the new Ferrari model.

Took me a few calls and a few minths to get the refund.

I believe that cahs flow issues are the readon.

Right now used cars arent moving and the margins are a bit thin.

As long as your dealership isn't stating that your deposit cannot be refunded, I assume that your deposit was either invested in a Cd or TBill . Your gonna wait until that turns over.

This is an interesting area. I was told recently the $30k deposit gets sent over to Ferrari now for the 12 Cilindri, etc, and the dealers do not get to hold on to it. I've often wondered about that, and how that all works, as historically the dealers have held on to the deposits as they go towards the car itself when you purchase it.

this is what I was told but at the same time I can’t get a straight answer and the fact that I’ve had to follow up every other day for the last two months with no real updates is egregious. 4 months and counting for a refund is unacceptable. It isn’t about the money. I’m not hard up. It’s the principal at this point.

Sounds like bs to me. First no way Italy has the deposit. The dealer surely keeps that until they need to pay on import. Plain and simple you are getting jacked around. I’d get forceful. Daily contact with them and up the irritation.

Have you been in contact with the GM? You need to talk directly to him. Let him know that it can be handled the easy way, or the hard way (Google, BBB, CA DOJ, etc).

you are incorrect - the factory holds the big deposits now. Can only speculate as to why but it does guard against a dealer going out of business and having to the deposits disappear.

The USA market is handled by FNA.

I do not believe that the deposit is paid to Ferrari SPA.
Ferrari SPA would deal with Euros and not dollars
Then there is the issues of duty and tariffs and many other tax issues.

Keep on them and you will get the refund

Remember this when dealing with Ferrari in the future

I think the deposits are handled by regional offices and not dealers and not the factory. For example I am in Europe but because I ordered a RHD car my dealer asked me to pay the deposit in GBP instead of Euro. I assume because RHD orders go via the UK Ferrari office. ‍♂️

What is the difference between a big and small deposit then? Evidence and amount?

Correct. Deposits always and payments go to dealer. What is evidence otherwise?

Well I have a car at the port now and what I don’t think they realize is that they never took the second deposit from me so I can refuse delivery and still get that deposit back as well as I never went non refundable. So I am not taking delivery unless that deposit is applied to the new car. FOD.

I don’t care if it was sent to Ferrari Mars. 4 months and constant follow up is unacceptable and egregious. Horrible way to treat people spending between $500K-$1M on their cars.

Complain to FNA That would be the next step in escalation ladder.

My issue is responsiveness. I email or reach to rep and then silence. I am always chasing them to just have the courtesy of responding to communications. Drives me nuts.

So many cancellations, I think dealers are getting crushed taking these cars into inventory and can't write these checks.
