Anybody having or hearing about difficulty getting a 12c spider allocation that wants one?
I don't think there will be any difficulty getting one. You may not be first in line and have to wait a bit but I'm pretty sure there will be opportunity. I recently cancelled both my coupe and GTS orders as the car's not what I want and I have a few friends in different markets that have done the same. The impression I have is that they're selling ok but there isn't a stampede for them. That may be market dependent - I have no idea on that.
First the VIPs comes and in 2027 perhaps new customers will also get a car. But there will certainly be price increases again and many people simply don't want to wait 24 months for a car.
What's laughable is that when it was first introduced I told my dealer that I'd order a GTS and their response was they weren't sure they could get me one. F'ing idiots. I said no problem Ill just keep my 812gts then. The games aren't working well these days.
There are far more coupes than spiders. Much less Spiders will be produced and a V12 NA without a roof and without a hybrid is in short supply. No matter what haters say.
I’m not a hater, the car’s just not for me. I’m neutral on it’s styling and I just find it too big and heavy and I don’t like the haptics. I’m ok keeping my 812 Superfast and GTS. Ferrari is going in a direction that’s also not for me so I’m going with lightweight, agile cars with manual transmissions (except for one) that are also, unfortunately, very limited production which, means they are more expensive and have quite long delivery times. Not wanting a car or a brand is not hating it’s just accepting that what Ferrari produce is no longer for me. People that love the C12 will buy it because it gives them what they want which, is the way it should be.
Now the design has had some time under its belt. The shock of the design has worn off. Now time will give the perspective. The question of if it will be a new classic will be answered. Customers waiting 2-3 years for their build slot, Get time to see if the design and the price are still attractive. Many will back out. The world of car design is going thru a faster design cycle. Gimmicky designs are just that.
Don't kid yourself, the margin between spiders and coupes will not be as big as you believe. They are in the business of making money, so they'll take those orders. They will indeed keep a build margin between the two just not as big as you may believe. While I'm a huge fan of the V12s I don't particularly think a convertible V12 is in short supply for those who truly want them. Perhaps a new allocation with games makes it tough, but there are plenty of pre-owned 812 GTSs for sale currently with about 64 cars on the market for sale with an average price of $526,919 and median price change of $-22,000 or 4.2% drop over the average 149 days on market. So yeah, while a great car and well loved if it was indeed short supply, the days on market would be shorter, and the median price change most likely wouldn't exist to get units moved. The same will happen with the 12 Cilindri Spider once they start landing, only expanding the number of available units across both models into the market.
Frankly the new Amalfi looks better for half the price. Yes it’s a V8 and has only ~630hp. Too bad they can’t stuff the 12 into it…
