A traffic jam of Truck-Tonas! Miss my friend Francois Migault who was a very fine person and hosted me several times during le Mans in the 1990's at his family property, Bellefille, in the village of Chemire Le Gaudin 20 minutes south west of the circuit when I was covering the race for Cavallino. He hosted the whole NART team there several times, if only those walls could talk! His final years were alas very hard... Will arrive at LMC tomorrow, can't wait!
Yes on a closed section of new autoroute, I saw him describe it to a potential sponsor, pretty intense!

It has been my observation through many years of Historic racing that cars equipped with drum brakes required the use of the engine and transmission to slow the car down by downshifting. Drum brakes were inadequate. Cars equppied with disc brakes should allow the brakes do handle slowing down the car and not the engine and gearbox. Daytonas are heavy cars and although they had disc brakes the heat they generated would boil brake fluid and that caused brake failure. Many drivers reverted back to using the engine and gearbox to slow the car in addition to the brakes and the cars would suffer failures as a result. I would be interested to know the race weight of a Comp Daytona with full fuel tanks. Almost all of these cars started life as street cars.
