Anyone have an idea where I could find a driver side mirror for my 1984 400iA? It got bumped and whatever is inside the rubber boot is broken.

As my glass was lost I bought a red vitaloni mirror, that was an exact match to ours excet that it did not have any powered stuff, just a dummy alternative to the power module. All the rest could be swapped. Colour was obviously different, but that's an easy fix.

I still have the bits for the right side mirror.

Thanks for the responses. I contacted a friend who is an experienced Ferrari mechanic and he told me I could fix it by opening the rubber boot. That with that done I should be able to put it back together. When I do that I'll post pix of what the internals of the mirror look like and why it became separated. And if I can fix it.

I also saw on Eurospares website they had the mirror and it was $2,700. I emailed them and their response was that part (257-44-261-00) was no longer orderable.

JB Weld seemed like a long shot and it was. It didn’t hold and I’m not surprised. At this point my only option is to find a base or a complete mirror. :(

    Good day Al,

You do have another option... If you or someone you know is skilled at 3D CAD, then you can create a 3D CAD model of the base and and have it 3D printed in metal or another strong material. These days 3D printing can be relatively inexpensive... it is the CAD effort that is variable and depends upon the experience and skill of the CAD designer. It is tough to see the extents of the broken base, but I would guess it would take someone 20-30 minutes to CAD up the part.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Thanks for the pictures. What are they off of? Do you know if they're available anywhere? Black paint and move the Ferrari emblems and almost nobody would know the difference.

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to find someone with the skills to do the CAD work.
