    Hi everyone,

I accidentally tapped the driver-side mirror of my 458 against a pillar. There are no scratches or cracks. The mirror glass is intact and the motors work perfectly. However, the housing now looks slightly tilted upward, and the base gasket is not sitting flush with the body panel.

It looks like the mounting base may have partially popped out from its seated position. Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible to snap it back in without removing the mirror or opening the door panel?

Any tips would be really appreciated

I think the only way to see properly what has got bent out of shape is to take the mirror off. Not too horrible a job honestly, but you need to disconnect the batt to deactivate the airbag system and remove the door card. There are 3 studs on the base that go through the door and are held by 10mm nuts. The coloured part of the mirror base is a plastic sleeve over the aluminium structure and it is secured by some small torx which are visible if you turn the mirror.

Hopefully the door itself hasn't bent and it will just be a matter of rebuilding and reinstalling the mirror.

    Best of luck!

This guide is somewhat useful to see how to take the door card (panel) off.

Once off the access to the mirror is pretty good if you also take the speaker out.

You dont gotta disco the battery if you're only removing the door panel.

Have you tried to physically move the mirror back into position yourself?

You should as a precaution due to the airbag being mounted to the door card panel.
