Since we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, I wonder how often Marc Newsom and Jony Ives meet with Manzoni, is it daily, weekly...etc. Do they discuss where the design language of the brand needs to go. This is the first model where I get the sense Ives and Newsom have some pull. I think of the Marc Newsom car he designed for Ford for example and while they are totally different cars, I very much see similarities in design philosophy. That being said I do long the rear of the Amalfi, not so much the front.

 

Their involvement is on the EV only.

Which will be another failure. If they are smart they will abandon this program and start making more cars that evoke emotion.

You are 100% right and that's because some people buy whatever crap they put out.

 

Maybe the Amalfi is slated for conversion to an EV down the road? Just a theory given its design resemblance to an EV.

I’m surprised how much negative reaction there is on here. The renders kicking about really don’t do the Amalfi justice. In real life I think it’s a great looking car. Ok, if you didn’t like the Roma you were never going to like this but plenty of people do like the Roma so it’s hardly a fail, just a subjective design decision.

Personally, I don’t yet know if I like it more or less than the Roma. What it gains in aggression it loses in elegance, which makes sense as the two don’t typically track together.

The good news for me is that I don’t feel the need to immediately drop the Roma but I am pleased that once I’ve had a good run with it there’s a very appealing replacement waiting for me!

to be honest it's not just on here, if you look at youtube comments/other car forums/instagram etc around the world everyone is slating the design

 

Is this some kind of tradition to pour so much hate on every new model on release? And then change shoes in the air "Oh, I saw it in real life and now Its grown on me". Roma is very beautiful, but not perfect.

In my eyes Amalfi is gorgeous.

 

Remember the “Uterus” on the F12. The hate for the 812? Oh, and the FF although the Puro is now the focus of all that hate.

There were even detractors for the 296, although fewer.

The California and variants were poked fun of also - not a real Ferrari, just a rebadged Maserati!

 

The G-Force Car Reviews video features an absolutely gorgeous Amalfi! Make a point of watching it if you're on the fence about its looks. The video may not change your opinion, but I believe it definitely shows the Amalfi in the most flattering way, yet.

 

I do think it’s their most beautiful modern car, but just as important [and perhaps unfortunate] is it may be their last ICE.

 

just watched it. you are right, that rosso (portofino?) makes a gigantic difference in how the car looks. wow.

 

What’s wild is all those studio reviews were shot over a week and a half ago and those guys had to sit on that info until reveal time. That’s impressive.

 

right? that is an eternity to be silent. definitely pulled it off because there were no leaks that I saw.
