AUS A Yank in Austin

Since my return to F-Chat after a brief hiatus of about 11 years (no, I wasn't in prison), I figure I'd say hello in the Texas section. As one guy here put it, "yeah, he's a Yank, he's from north of Waco." Anyway, happy to be in Texas, love the people and the spirit of the place. Austin is now a bit like LA, not bitching, it's a nice city and my only complaint is really the heat of summer, but that's true of all of Texas.
We like exploring the small and forgotten towns, the roadhouses and West Texas, and have done a few trips-- to the ranches on that loop NW of Ft. Worth up to the Oklahoma border, to Fort Davis (haven't done Big Bend yet) and lots of little towns outside of Austin (though they are all getting gentrified by people looking for cheaper housing).
With my return to motorsports (bikes and now a Morgan 3 wheeler, I won't be able to keep up with any supercars, but) would be happy to join some jaunts, especially those in vintage cars. Anybody in Austin is also welcome to visit-- we live in Travis Heights, right up the hill from that Music Lane thing on South Congress. And I'm always happy to meet somebody for a cup of coffee or whatever.
