Front row lockout!!! I can dream, can’t I?
Well, what a pleasant surprise FP1 and 2 have turned out to be. It seems like such a dramatic turn around...almost too good think it will last...but for the moment, it is great to see the team/car/drivers heading in the right direction. I love it when they make me eat my scepticism.
The Austria gaps were huge! McLaren Ferrari Mercedes Everyone else If Silverstone turns out similar, it will be the proof Ferrari have been doing something productive behind the scenes... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Weather is going to be quite different tomorrow for qualifying and Sunday for the race so it’s far from over.
Cooler weather helps Mercedes. If it stays the same or close to today, I can see McLaren and Ferrari splitting the first two rows, and neither locking out the front row. Max is a great driver, but if George beats him tomorrow and Sunday, why would Toto spend more money just to have Max? If Mercedes builds a dominant car for 2026 and 2027, they could probably win with Ocon. Well, maybe that's going a little to far.
George beating Max in a much better car doesn't say much. Everyone knows Max is the best. Even if George won the championship this year I still think Toto would replace him with Max. Nobody is going to pass on a generational talent. The only one that I could see screw up a deal is Lawrence Stroll. He would toss Alonso to the gutter, sign Max with the stipulation that the team continues to build a car to help Lance instead of actually doing what it takes to win.
Exactly. Still absolutely trashing his teammates but no....lets try and start the retarded ass narrative that somehow it's Max that's the problem.
"It's the car" mode fully activated!!!! LoooL!!! Watch if Max wins Sunday it's gonna switch back to its the driver
Can there be at least 1 thread in the F1 section that does not keep hashing this and the sir lewis stuff over and over?
Max is a great driver...an outstanding driver...but if the Mercedes is working, they won't need Max...if the car isn't working, Max isn't going to help them. Charles can beat Max, Lando can beat Max, George can beat Max and even Lewis can beat Max...if their cars are working and Max's isn't. The drivers are all close enough that it is foolish to spend stupid money to sign Max.
The 'best' is fleeting and temporary in concept and shown continuously in execution over time. Pointless and fun conversation is had. Yet not much changes. Opinion noted and taken. Another 'great' comes along and the previous 'great' matters zero overall.
This is assuming Mercedes builds another world beater though. However if 2 or even 3 teams build a car good enough to win regularly, they'll want the best driver. Not only do they ensure themselves they'll have the best of the best...they'll also know another team doesn't have him. It's a win/win.
