he is, but his takes are so diabolically stupid (and surely deliberate) that inevitably people comment on it and then then I try to figure out what the context is...

Yes these drivers know what they want, that's why they are in F1. More so the engineers know the data and can make changes.

Well, he's not a whiner, but Chuck does seem to have issues controlling his emotions and raging.

I sympathize, because I struggle myself in the same way. But come on, today was not the end of the world. He'll line up 6th on a circuit where track position isn't important.

No, seriously, what was he complaining about? Were changes made after FP3 that degraded quali performance? I haven’t compared his practice times vs. q times.

He was complaining about himself. He felt he could have done better.

    Leclerc post-qualifying interview:

    - "Did the mistake cost me pole? I don't think so, because I'm two tenths behind. It certainly cost me the front row, but now I'm a bit fed up with coming here and saying every time there's something wrong. I don't get the same feeling I had with the car in qualifying a year ago."

    - "We have some very specific problems, and in qualifying, it becomes much more difficult because there are some slightly strange things, but we know where they come from, and I think we have the solution. They're more problems than balance issues, but ultimately, I have to do the job, and I'm not doing it in qualifying. I think I always do a good job in the race, but in qualifying, I'm not doing what I expect of myself. I have to work on it, because it's always been one of my strengths, but right now, I'm struggling a lot."

    - "There's something else in the car that we've never talked about, and it's better that way. But we're struggling a bit with this problem. We hope now that the solution will come soon."

    - "Unfortunately, it's much harder to win now, but the race pace is there. We have to find some clean air, but starting sixth isn't easy."

Once again, lots of promise in FP...and then Ferrari drops the ball when it counts. Ferrari culture is based on resting on their laurels, while everyone else keeps fighting to the end...even when they are ahead.

Haha, Like today when John is right he's really right -today I'd merely change his use of "laurels" to "brand name" [and lewee's brand name which is nothing but laurels!]. How's that for nit picking?

But there's no nit picking over Max's God like differential, noted by all the team principals. A Titan towering over the sport.

Seems like Ferrari "knows" all the issues. Either fix it or come out and say there is nothing to be done this year and polish the turd ya brung.
