    RM Sotheby's a week ago tried to sell two Daytonas from the Robert Lee collection (don't know the results). Several more cars will be put up for Monterey auction including Duesenberg J Walker-LaGrande and MB 500K Special Roadster.

    I see they added A-pillars at ends of the windshield to support what I thought was originally pillarless, cantilever roof design.
    I wonder how many broken windshields it took to reach that decision and when was this modification first implemented ?

    Thanks for that detail.

    As a 30+ year “veteran” in the custom curved windshield business and having produced countless one-off’s, including Ferraris & other exotics, Pebble Beach contenders & variety of custom cars, etc, I tend to notice & wonder about stuff like this and can see the pillarless design like in this example being rather difficult to execute for practical use purposes.
