anybody know how to actually “select” apps with CarPlay? The “home” button cycles through the home screens - but I’m having trouble actually selecting an app - like my garage door opener that pops up on the screen

You have to use the haptic touchpad to move the selector/ cursor. I find this to be fairly frustrating. My workaround is to use Siri. I wake up the controls and then press and hold the face icon on the left side of the steering wheel, this brings up Siri as opposed to the Ferrari voice recognition. I will then say something like “play my playlist” or “show me waze” and it works.

Further to C11’s advice you can set up short cuts in waze and then use Siri to get to these

So when I go to navigate on CarPlay - the steering wheel wakes up just fine - but I cannot seem to get the cursor to move off of the Waze screen.

I have the newer steering wheel - maybe I’m missing something?

I will definitely set up some shortcuts this evening for Siri use.

Its a matter of getting used to how to swipe on the touch pad or if you have the new steering wheel, maybe its multiple presses of each arrow or you have to hold it?

It’s interesting to hear the problem and the comments. The thing that surprises me is that in this day and age Ferrari can’t make simple electronic controls work efficiently. It’s truly pathetic. Looking back at my last few comments on various threads I find I’m being quite negative in general about Ferrari but truly I’m shocked at what buyers now accept in expensive pieces of machinery. The heritage is out the window and they can’t make the effort to make basic operations work easily and efficiently - maybe one day things will improve.

The controls for last generation were peculiar and awkward at first but it didn’t take long to figure out. CarPlay was always awkward and easier for me to just select things in the phone directly.

Sounds like this is more so…

The unresponsive and maddening haptic controls are a disaster--and dangerous to use while driving.
Someone is going to have a wreck and injury or death will be the result. .
My home button won't wake up and I have to take my eyes off the road to get my tach screen back after trying to change music with Siri or getting a call.
The damn thing makes calls and navigations while I am trying to wake it.
Hate it---Ferrari should replace them free.

Back when I purchased my brand new 328 GTS it came with cheap plastic parts and bad exterior paint fresh from the factory. It was also slower than its’ competitors at the time. My 458 and F12 plastic interior parts melted and the 458 brakes didn’t always work- and the steering had no feel on either car.

Service, parts and labor were always off the charts expensive. And yet people actually have almost always wanted these cars.

So far, the 296 is the best Ferrari I have ever owned- all things considered in providing speed, handling, luxury and excitement.

It’s not perfect. I’m not waiting for that car.

Yes- for the most part you shouldn’t use the steering wheel haptics to navigate screens on the right side of the steering wheel while driving. Not ideal and clearly a design error. I’m not sure buttons will be much better while driving. Hope so.

If your home button isn’t responsive- shouldn’t you have Ferrari fix it? I just press and hold the “button” and I’m back to the tach.
