It's obvious why Stroll isn't on other team principals shopping list: he isn't on the market. He already have a drive, and it would be totally nonsensical for him to leave his father's team !
Being on or off the market has never stopped rumors or interest or back room maneuvering to try and scoop someone. We all know the one and only reason Stroller has a seat. If it wasn’t for that, no one would hire him. The rare times his name comes up, it’s almost never complimentary. NO ONE says “hey if only we could find a way to pry Stroller away from his daddy’s team we would be 100% complete!”
I really think that he has mentally checked out. Being a WDC or even a F1 race winner is his father's delusion, not his. At this point his career is becoming a public humiliation.
Someone will be along any second to remind us we can’t compare the Stroller to a 2x WDC who (checking notes) won those championships two decades ago.
Lance made it into the F1 movie. In his traditional star role: He was getting passed by the APX-GP team.
To be honest, Stroll's GP was pretty good today, even if losing a couple of positions at the end. Aston also had a very good tyre strategy for him.
Stroll is a bit of an enigma in that when the conditions are the most tricky it is when he makes the fewest mistakes and shows better overall performance and race craft than most. I know I’ll ruffle more than a few feathers by saying that but it’s hard to argue with the results. Good showing by Stroll today.
Great job by both AM drivers at the qualifying in Budapest: P5 and P6 Goes to show that once the car improves they can get some decent results.
Hand it Lance for putting in an outstanding lap. If Alonso was happy with his own lap and Lance was just a few hundreds off, then he deserves some praise. Unfortunately for him he did an interview on Sky Sports post quali and had zero answers for why the car was good. He said it wasn't windy and yet other drivers said it was gusty and that the wind changed completely. It literally seems like he has no clue at all what's going on with the car or the track or the weather, he just relies on the team to tell him. No wonder they have been the worst team in development the last 6+ years.
You make it sound like he got lucky on one lap. He was consistently fast in all three quali sessions. I couldn't care less if he doesn't answer any questions. That's all PR fluff anyway, no matter who says it. I gave up listening to driver interviews a long time ago. Kimi had something to do with that. Others use more words and say the same, which is nothing.
Good race by both AM drivers ending P5 and P7. That's how you score points. Fingers crossed the Newey effect carries through the summer break to the end of the season. Would love to see more points finishes by Lance.
