of my '72 246GT. Is there anything I should add to the maintenance besides adjusting the forward timing chain and valve cover gaskets? TIA.
Alex, Valve clearances, Crank seals, Check clutch disc, and anything else that's a bear to do w/engine in, but not out. Change all fluids, Thermostat, check water pump for play, et al. Have fun! So nice to have an engine out and work on it with a comfy chair next to it. Regards, Alberto
Unless it is bone dry replace the gasket that goes between the casting that houses the crankshaft main seal and the block. This gasket cannot be replaced with the engine in and is much easier to do with the engine out.
I imagine for anyone to be able to provide any meaningful advice or suggestions, it would be imperative to know the reason(s) and/or the objective(s) for removal of the engine.
Alex, you may already have seen the thread below, but if not, you may find some useful info/tips for your engine removal. The notes bring together quite a few Ferrari Chat experiences for this. Kevin https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/removal-and-instalation-of-engine.226569/
