While doing a radio upgrade on my 550 this week, I mentioned to my buddy @RoboN3rd that I wished the shift gate was backlit. The man made a dream into a reality!

After a couple of versions of trial and error, he came up with a plug-and-play solution. I’m thrilled with the result.

[***Offers to sell belong in the classified ad section***]

Made from PETG-CF, black or charcoal gray are available for the part. Custom colors as well, but will add 2wks and $40 to the price.

Currently available light colors are neon green, blue, aqua blue, white, red, pink, yellow, and orange.

The darker picture of the shift gate are as it appears to the eye. The brighter pic is with the low-light enhancement on. Don’t mind the lack of radio, that’s getting finished this week.

Very innovative, not for me, but I love that you have done it. Good luck, i hope these are well recieved. Looks like a nice part. I have been printing spacers too. Just one of those smart part replacements

Nice! There is a gate spacer. Clever way to deal with it.

This thread calls into play a site policy.

The site policy effected is trying to address the two kinds of posts on a DIY/project thread. The first are the posts that describe a problem and a solution. We welcome those as sharing with the community. The second type of posts are the eventual outcome of most DIY/project threads, which is a solution of some kind, that results in a group buy or tooling bought and paid for and some level of small scale production. This results in solicitations for sale and requests for availability. The second type of posts are in conflict with our policy that there should be no business conducted in the discussion forums, business should be conducted in the classified ad section. Veiled references to contacting the solution developer for "project details" are considered a circumvention as these invariably result in continued requests for availability.

The approved process is to, once the DIY/project enters the solution available for sale phase, have the DIY/project solver post an ad in the classified ad section to offer the solution for sale and then post a link to the ad in the original DIY/project thread and direct all further inquiries to the ad. The thread can still remain for additional questions and improvements to the solution, but any and all availability questions should be directed to the ad.

    Idea is interesting.

Same thickness as factory spacer? Electricity source taken from where? Will dash light adjustment affect it using wiring which comes with spacer without cutting factory wiring? Is light adjustable without building more circuitry to control it?

Is green so close to same as instrument back lighting that end result looks like its from factory. Backlights are green aren't they? Even better it stock backlight adjustment works on it also same as all other lights. Extra bonus points if there is separate build in adjustment for baseline setting. Meaning at full dash backlight setting light from spacer can be set separately to desired level for it not to be too bright.

But even at spacer with just some wires coming out of it and nothing else I'm interested if price is reasonable. Make it product someone can sell through some site so forum policy do not get in the way.
