I still wonder what kind of deal Max can work out if he signs with Mercedes. Max has expressed more than once that he has no interest in staying in F1 forever, that he wants to do other motorsports. Lemans and sports cars seem to be the avenue he would take, especially since he's done multiple tests in these cars. Would he be allowed to drive all these other cars while under contract with Mercedes? It's not uncommon for automotive brands to prohibit drivers from driving any other brands. With Red Bull, they don't have to worry so much about that. He is often seen in a Ferrari GT3, but it has Red Bull livery so they don't care. Mercedes might care. They may even care about what he drives in his sim racing.

 

Nelson Jr. says they're talking (Max and Toto) but nothing's confirmed so far.

I don’t see any of the heavy hitters changing their roster to obtain Max for the time being. They’re well positioned. Max will stay with the Bull.

 

Ralf Schumacher says both Max and Toto are to meet this week....AIS of both their yachts heading to Sardinia currently.

While it's highly plausible, there's been no confirmation as of yet per the podcast.

 

Why wouldn't Max leave RBR? The team is in shambles and their powertrain for 2026 is a huge question mark. I think that Max goes to MB, Toto will shuffle one of their two drivers to a Mercedes customer team.

I personally would like to see Verstappen and Russell in the same team.

I believe a 7x WDC title holder made that call when jumping with MercedesAMGF1 in 2014 in a new turbo-hybrid era.
