296 track focused vs AF package

So with the lifter you lose the specific Speciale suspension, and you get a so-called Speciale that's limited to its showing off attributes (anyway, they're the most important, so why bother...)

 

I am basing this off what was explained to me on the XX models, and it seems they are following the same general concept here, but I could have it wrong, so please double check. My understanding is not what you said. In either case you are getting a Speciale specific suspension.

With the "Lifter Suspension", the parts are the Magnaride dampers and whatever springs they've chosen (I dont know maybe they are a little stiffer), I would imagine its been retuned, it is retuned on the XX. They told me for the XX the Magnaride was about the same firmness as the standard SF90 AF suspension... However, you get the added flexibility of the lifter and the bumpy road mode.

With the "Non Lifter Suspension", the parts are the Multimatic passive spool valve dampers and titanium springs, I would imagine this is also retuned from the standard AF pack. With the XX they were quite explicit that this suspension was only suitable if you live in an area with super smooth roads or will only ever drive on track.

My own take is to go with the lifter suspension. I have a few places where the lifter is useful, and my roads are hardly glass smooth, and I view these as street, not track, cars.

I think they are giving us the choice on just how much excellence we want in the handling, and I am sure the Multimatic delivers another level of body control. I had that with my 296 GTB and I have the Magnaride on my GTS, which for my area, I find a bit more appropriate, and I do use the lifter now and again, though I could manage without it.

I have every confidence Ferrari will deliver a winning driving dynamic with either choice.
