Unfortunately, that voltage/amp table only goes up to 2.9 amps...

Here's one that goes up to 10 amps, but it may still be a little low.

" ..... With the jumper fitted...
If your fan doesn't turn at all, then it's a power issue or fan issue.
If your fan runs at MAX speed, then the fan is ok.... unless it stops some time afterwards, then it's also a fan issue (overheating, etc).
If the fan runs indefinitely, then it's a fan speed controller or HVAC ECU issue (or in rare cases, the fan speed knob on the A/C control control panel)... or wiring....... "

Great. Thanks for taking the time Ian

Just to clarify. If the fan is ok with the jumper and it runs indefinitely... but you were having issues with the fan previously.... then it's a fan speed controller or HVAC ECU issue (or in rare cases, the fan speed knob on the A/C control control panel)... or wiring....... that is causing that previous issue.

FOLLOW UP: I bought the £10 part from MG Rover Spares: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/mk2-45-zs-atc-transistor-pack-repair-kit-jgn000010-diavia-133000-3-and-133000-2?_pos=1&_sid=a2a2ebbbe&_ss=r and completed the work this weekend and it worked! Pulling out the original was by far the worst part. If you have any experience with soldering, it's straightforward. You basically clip out the existing transistors, melt out the existing solder, and fit the new ones. Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks for all the great info here.

I had the transistors replaced recently in the fan speed controller (hedgehog (part 64280200)) as the fan would work intermittently / whenever it felt like it. Now the fan runs at full speed the whole time whether the car is running or not. With a jumper fitted the fan also runs at full speed. I've been told it is likely the motor pushing too much electricity through the fan speed controller causing the transistors to fail instantly. Could anyone let me know which motor could be the culprit please? According to the workshop manual there are a number of motors directing airflow. I'm guessing it could be either of them but if anyone had any experience of this it would be greatly appreciated.
