I had been reading on here a few months back that there was going to be an offering for a different 12C steering wheel that had more physical controls rather than haptic ; does anybody have further information on this?

    is it real / true?

is there an order code to look to include on the spec?

does anybody have photos of it?

Ferrari said at the F80 presentation that they would bring the mechanical buttons steering wheel on all cars in production, but they have not released when.

The F80 wheel has the same functionality as the other current production wheels, but with a physical button D pad on the right, and buttons for the same functions as current production wheels on the left. Presumably that's the F future for wheels.

So I just came back from Italy.
Here is the scoop on the steering wheel:

Effective July 2025, all new Ferrari vehicles will be equipped with a redesigned steering wheel.
This new design will be based on the steering wheel of the Amalfi, with one key difference: the physical engine start button will not be included.

The engine start function will instead be integrated into a central touch panel (as is now).

I consider this good news overall.

Any mention of a retro fit? Mine is playing cards, gambling or whatever they do for weeks on end at the Port of entry so I missed the new wheel…

Sorry brother ... not clear about that. I assume its a possibility but thats something you need to confirm with your dealer.

There's going to be a retrofit wheel, but it's not going to be cheap. I don't know what that means and I don't think dealers know yet either - probably somewhere between $5 and 10k, closer to the latter if I had to bet.

Wish the start button had returned to physical big red … but beggars can’t be choosy at this point lol

I wonder if the missing red start button is a design decision or a technical one. I mean if they bothered to redo the entire steering .. why exclude that?

To me the big red start button is the most critical of all. It’s the primary connection between driver and the beast under the hood. Leaving that off makes no sense.

FYI, just got my car and it already has wheel with buttons from factory which I am very pleased. Funny fact, there were other cars delivered to dealer with the shipement and mine was the only one with it, so consider myself quite lucky.

The other cars were probably manufactured a bit earlier than yours. All cars manufactured after July have the updated steering wheel. Having said that, I haven't actually seen what it looks like yet so if you can share a pic that would be great.

This is how it looks. Start/stop remains haptic, kinda strange but maybe it was easier solution somehow for the cars already designed with haptics wheels. AFAIK only F80 will get the physical button for start
Edit: realized there is not much to see on this photo, gonna retake it later

I was convinced they would never update the old wheels for free and will force us to pay for the buttons it we wanted them on cars that were launched without them so that was a very nice suprise

    Nice!

Our car was built earlier and still has the haptics even though it only came last week. But that is because it was hanging out at the port for a few months. I’ll check the build date.

I wonder if in the distant future, the early models with haptics will be considered more valuable because they are a rarity…. LOL

Mine has september build date sticker on it, for reference. So looks like cars built after august break has buttons
