Yes I’ll be getting to work on this. whilst I’m in there, is there any harm other than to ear drums, of forcing the valve to remain open? by force I was alluding to altering the vacuum pipes down by the solenoid
I see, no risk of damage to anything? If not I may consider it depending on how I get on with removing this 1448 code, as from what I can tell from previous threads it appears to be a pig to get rid off with non stock exhaust/cats, and so if the CEL is going to be on for 1448 I may well end up doing what the previous owner did and remove the dam bulb! So, I’ve installed the new thermocouple for the bypass valve, cut the wires and replaced the pins on the connector to the left side cat, started the engine and the SDL is still blinking, 1449 has come back on the scan, no 1448 but I’m not Sure if that would appear after just a minutes running. I will take it for a drive tomorrow if the weathers better and see if the SDL goes out and whether or not the car goes into limp mode. the other thing I could try is what @Qavion mentioned and swapping the cables over on the other two cat ECUs just in case they’ve been mixed up, but if they have then that’s always been the case as I 100% connected them back up the same, but I’d have thought if they were mixed up it would be the other ECU’s code and not 1449….. then onto @Qavions post 97
Sounds promising. I wouldn't worry about swapping the leads on the right hand CAT/Bypass. For the dummy ECU/Thermocouple, all you need is a diode and resistor soldered together and plugged into the cat ECU harness connector: Image Unavailable, Please Login My version looks like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login But you don't need plugs and pins. Just stick the resistor and diode, in series, directly into the sockets of the harness in the orientation shown. Note that the dummy ECU is only for the main cats
I wish I shared your enthusiasm , I was hoping for no SDL and no 1449 I’m beginning to think I’ll never be rid of this SDL, I can see why the previous owner removed both the SDL and CEL bulbs.
Take an OBD2 scanner, clear all codes, start engine again, and drive it off the driveway around the block. Is there a SDL ?
So I appear to have lost both 1448 and 1449, also the SDL has gone off, was driving for around 90 minutes. Optimistic because the 1449 code would always come on almost immediately every time I cleared and read codes, so looks like the thermocouple fixed the bypass code the plug re pin solved the 1449 when I returned and switched the car off and back on again as extra reassurance , the slow down light went back off again, although it was the last light to go off by a couple of seconds, is this normal behaviour for the SDL?
If I just cycle my key, the SDL and CEL extinguish around the same time. I have heard that if there is an issue with the engine ECU, the CEL stays on for longer, but I don't know about the SDL.
