That "landmark" was already removed as too much of the original was already torn down. Remove flying saucer and turn into a park. Build completely new stadium next to it on parking lot site.

Sears tower under construction in 1973, way before tall buildings were the in thing to do around the world. Three supertalls in one photo. Only two places on earth could you see that in 1973, both in the USA.

"Century-old Loop skyscrapers to be preserved, federal agency decides

Two century-old skyscrapers in the Loop will be preserved for future use as previous plans to demolish them were scrapped Friday.

The U.S. General Services Administration released its final environmental impact report for the Century and Consumers buildings at 202 S. State St. and 220 S. State St., and also a smaller building between them, at 214 S. State St., ultimately choosing to reuse the vacant buildings rather than demolish them."

I saw this Great Lakes overlay on top of Europe to show its size, all FRESH WATER, and it reminded me of how underappreciated the Great Lakes are in the US. This is why Chicago was built where it was. Now everybody in the US tries to go to places that have limited water supply.

Side note, Chicago is pretty far south compared to most of Europe. Almost the same latitude as Rome Italy!!

Saw this news, a surprise. Located across the street from the future Bally’s Casino, this is the first Universal Studios attraction ever in the Midwest, and will include “terrifying mazes, unforgettable scares, themed bars” and more. Only two of these is the country, the other one due to open in Las Vegas later this year.

1893 Liberal Arts Building, Chicago Worlds Fair under construction in 1892. Was destroyed in a fire in 1894. At the time of construction is was the largest building in the world.

Not skyscrapers but still getting huge for the Chicago area. The T5 upgrades and also ground breaking for the new domestic terminal.

ORD is back up to the top for flight movements again for the world. ORD has a lot of non passenger cargo flights.

ATL is still far ahead for passenger traffic counts. This is due to ATL having a much better passenger terminal facility.

ORD is now getting aggressive with gate use and has taken several gates from AA and given them to UA. I wonder which company has the smartest management
