The Connie... queen of the skies. Every angle of this plane is beautiful.

While sitting on the toilet I watched an aquatic plane miss a tree in my backyard by about 10 feet.

I see a restored flying ME262 just showed up yesterday. I talked to the museum that is restoring the Northrop P61 on the east coast, and they plan on bringing it to Oshkosh when it is finished. Maybe by 2026-2027??

It's a replica with better engines, but who really cares? Its capital-A-Amazing. I wish I were there.

Somewhere on YouTube is a video of an original with the actual Jumo engines being tested.

    For clarification purposes:
THIS aircraft (reply #82) is the original wartime Me 262 with the rebuilt Junkers Jumo 004 engines, though the engines have been rebuilt with many new parts, so they should be more powerful and reliable than when first built during the war.
The aircraft in reply #81 (photographed at Oshkosh) is a reproduction built by Legend Flyers in, ironically, a facility right next to the FH&CAM that owns the wartime aircraft, and is powered by GE J85 engines enclosed inside castings that externally resemble the Jumo 004 engines. These engines are more powerful than the Jumos and the aircraft is placarded with a newer-exceed speed rating. The boss of Legend Flyers, Bob Hammer, was my supervisor on the Boeing 767 program in 1979-80.

What was the tribute? The Wed night show?

Was nice seeing two B-29's at the same time. My friend commented that he sure wouldn't have wanted to be underneath a few hundred of them.

A ME262 being chased by 2 mustangs was something I never expected to see. Yes, I know it's not "real" to some people but a one-for-one part replica with the exception of engines and front landing gear is fine for me. I think ME even let them use their serial numbers as if it was just 4 more 262's made after the last ones in 1945. I have no idea how someone could get real Jumo engines working well enough to trust in flight. I also saw the replica a few weeks ago at the WW2 fest in Pennsylvania.

After 2 days and 14miles of walking I get "planed out". Not sure how people make it the entire week.

I stay 45min away. Can be done for under $100/night if by yourself. This year had 2 others with me so upgraded to a farm house halfway between Milwaukee and Oshkosh. Still under $200/night with kitchen, 2bedroom, living room, etc. Was near the Sunburst "ski resort", which is a very small hill if you have ever skied anywhere else besides Wisconsin.

The tribute was the huge lighted drone display. I have seen a few videos of it.
