Is that true? My impression was that this is a dealer policy, not FNA, and that many dealers don't do it.

Maybe common but not standard. This was dealer imposed; not Ferrari. I know several who ordered an aperta without lien.

The 8.5% surcharge would represent a bigger share of a 25% tariff increase than it would appear at face value (because the tariff is assessed on the import value, not MSRP). However, it's very unlikely that it covered the full tariff. Hence the name tariff "contribution" seems justified.

At a 12.5% tariff increase, however, there's a reasonable chance that 8.5% of MSRP would cover most, if not all (or more), of the actual tariff.

We'll see how Ferrari handles it.

Tariff resolution will do amazing things for the stock market tomorrow....

All imported cars from the EU now have 15% tariff. Remember, there was a 2.5% tariff for years that we all forgot was there. Now, start forgetting about the 15% :).

Guessing...it would make sense that the customer contribution of 8.5% will be for the first round of Speciale orders (2026 deliveries) only and then count on Ferrari increasing the price another 6.5% to pass 100% of the tariff back to the buyers. $407 + 8.5% - $510 (true) base price vs $468 with the 15% being paid by the buyer. (Remember, the tariff is based on the total price with options) I am also assuming Ferrari doesn't raise the base price for the next round of buyers. (of course they will) Early Speciale buyers have a little baked in insurance policy if they are worried about loss in value as the next round of buyers will certainly be paying 6.5% more...

    Welcome to the new world.

I also feel like it’s an interesting boat, I’ve only owned spiders/Gts cars. But no special series. I would have preferred an aperta solely for the open top experience. But I was told it was impossible, only like 10 allocated for the dealer and I did not make the list.

but getting a coupe allocation is worth it, and having a couple other spiders in the arsenal I’m fine with a speciale coupe. More than fine. Super pumped to drive one and own one.

We’ll see what the new SF 90 replacement has to say.

No, the tariff is based on the import price, not MSRP. An 8.5% surcharge on MSRP likely covers most, if not all, of the tariff increase.
    _____
Say, for example, that the import price is 70¢ on the dollar, with 15¢ going to FNA and 15¢ to the dealer. (I have no idea if these numbers are right, but they seem plausible.)

If that was true, a 15% tariff on a car with a $470k sticker would be $49,350. The tariff in 2024 (2.5%) would have been $8,225, so that represents an increase of $41,125. And the 8.5% surcharge? $39,950.

I would be surprised if they increase the "tariff contribution" rate. But, we'll see.

Up till now, USA folks pay local taxes only. Can be up to 10/11 % here in California (7.75% + local taxes), or 0% in state without sales tax (such as Oregon).

Yes. Unless you live in Oregon, then it’s 8.5%!

Yes, taking the numbers from @skyuro of 7.75%, if the tariff remains at 8.5% on a $600k build, the tariff+taxes+delivery will be around $700k because the taxes are paid on the total amount including the delivery charge and the tariff applied.

Also can be a large chunk yearly for registration / personal property fees, up to 4% of most of the MSRP in some states, though usually it declines yearly.

What really galls me is having to pay tax on the tariff! It's a relatively small amount, but what sense does it make?

Kind of like paying federal and state tax on all of your income, including what they took out for social security and medicare. Pay a tax on a tax.

It will be a miracle for Ferrari to reduce the "tariff premium" even though tariffs got reduced from 30% to 15%.

The F80 was revealed in October and they just put out reviews. Hopefully it isn't 9 months but it may not be until December/January at that pace

Like any government entity, they have never seen a dollar that they did not want for themselves. Very easy to spend other people's money.

Wheels for Speciale - Stopped by the dealer this weekend. All the wheels except Carbon seem to be under 3K. I am not able to see the F80 wheels in person; Is anyone aware if it is black on white or black on chrome/aluminum color?
