Its been many years I haven't used the wiper motor on my GT4 probably 16 or 17yrs . I had my column switches repaired by Verell early this year. When I tried the rebuilt stalk ,the wiper did not work , so I figured id get around to it. Well this weekend I did. Surprising what I found was the problem. And Btw photos to follow . I searched for photos and found nothing, so now future torture patients will find some. Mike

the grease wasn't hard but there was barely any in the housing. And the grease that was left was coagulated and wouldn't even stain a rag. Next up was to un solder the Red to Blue connection and the Green to grey connection to separate the body from the gear housing. only two screws need to be removed to separate the two halves.. Btw note the mark on the gear and "cam" with the dot pointing to the screw hole with the small dot next to it

I tapped them free and cleaned with break clean and actually sanded the two stuck brushes with some 400 paper, barely.

My write up isn’t great but there aren’t many parts. I really wanted to post the internals/ since I didn't find any pics through search. There is a small o ring at the output shaft u should be aware of and some Mickey Mouse looking spring that holds a small metal cover around the output shaft

    Hi Mike,

my wipers are slow too so I tried to remove the wiper assembly from my car. I can't get it out. Do you remember how you managed to get it out?

Do I need to separate the motor from the assembly first by removing the 3 bolts and the drive arm to get some more wiggle room?

It’s been a long time. But based on my first photo it looks like those are the bolts to remove. I remember that it is very difficult to remove in the space given.

    Thx,

I will give it a try..There is indeed no space at all. They started with putting in the wiper assembly and added everything else after that...

Those are the 4 bolts . It’s the one at the back ( just in view ) that’s tricky .
I did this a few yrs ago and it just about wriggles out in a pseudo rubrics cube way .
Maybe loosen the bracket , or bend it a bit to facilitate removing the motor .

I dismantled as per thread . Cleaned up the commutator and regressed the cogs .
Was 8 yrs ago and still works like a modern car .

Expect blood shed on your knuckles.

Do you mean that it is possible to get only the motor and gearbox assembly out without removing the whole wiper assembly? I have all the bolts out of the bracket. I already look forward to put the 'hidden' ones on the firewall back in place without dropping them and they fall in the black hole...

Yes only the motor and g box .
No need to do anything with wiper assembly/ arms .
