Car looks great! GLWTS. You mention that the engine is "Stowed under a carpeted fiberglass cap". The engine cover, at least on very early Boras, was made of aluminum. No mention of construction material in Ivan's Bora Guide to Authenticity - ver 1.2.
Keep it and drive it! But drive it on better roads than the boring flat straight ones in Florida as we discussed in the past; half the fun is the road.
The Bring a trailer chaps are absolutely clueless in classic Masers, communicate very poorly and rudely, ask me how I know. Experts they are most definitely not. Clowns yes.
Not disappointed at all. I have a long history of buying a car and sorting it out and then as soon as its good selling it. No one understands. Not even myself. I've done it so many times. But I can say this is a bit too expensive of a toy for me to keep indefinitely. I had planned to enjoy for a while then sell it. I did some light wrenching, took it on a 140 mile rally and showed it at 4-5 car shows. It was fun. Mostly. It was super nostagic for me since my dad owned one new back in the day. But for now I'd like the money to invest for the future. One thing is certain-I could not have gotten that car into good shape and fixed all the things that popped up without help from the Ferrari Chat crowd including yourself. For that I am grateful. It seems like not long but we are coming up on a year of ownership.
To be fair, the car at Gooding still has the hard to modify (and pig ugly) rear end treatment. And so I’m not surprised at the discount on Cepat’s much more attractive example. best to all. M
English and American aren't always spoken the same way Bob. To me or any European what Mark wrote makes perfect sense. You should read it as discount compared to
https://bid.goodingco.com/lots/view/1-AXVGHX/1977-maserati-bora-49 This car could have greatly benefited from a super detail and even some selective refinishing of the engine compartment like the LHM tank. It's not that dissimilar to # 1044 thought that's a nicer color combo and that sold for a lot of money with almost twice the mileage on BAT not so long ago, has the same "ugly ass bumpers" just like mine. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-maserati-bora-5/ One thing about those bumpers, they real work well if you have to push the car or if you get bumped at the gas station by an idiot. The others will a very disastrous and expensive repair. Same issue with Espadas which are even uglier IMHO.
Isn't he trying to say that he's not surprised by the discount on the silver Bora because of the bumpers. If so he's muffed it and has nothing to do with being American or British.
golf lingo as is taking a Mullgan I don't golf and trust me the world can be happy for that. He's erred. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/muffed https://www.fastslang.com/muffed
LOL I went to see The naked gun 2025 last week, mindless entertainment, not as good as the originals but Liam Neeson does a good job in a very different type of acting from his usual fare.
Well OJ Simpson took himself out of the picture ... Leslie Nielsen versus Liam Neeson an alliteration junkie's delight, can't be accidental.
Gosh this thread has moved along somewhat randomly since my last visit! ((((-; Perhaps as Marc S suggested, I should have typed ‘compared to….’ which is what I meant with my original comment. But then we would have been denied the opportunity of seeing such unlikely characters as Frank Drebin and Austin Powers in the Bora thread. Possibly their first and last appearance here! From London, Cheers Baby! Have a groovy afternoon everyone. M
