How do we improve 599 Air Intake?

599 GTO intakes are now being reproduced by an industrious and clever chap in I think Hong Kong (would need to check on that though). Other than looking cool, the additional volume would be a useful for some more torque. Would need some special trev ECU work of course, but I believe this is all figured out already.

 

We really need a separate thread of all the things @360trev has figured out for the 599!

I'll ask if he minds. I'm told he's done them in cast Aluminium, but if you wait, he's working on one in carbon at the moment.

For me the sound matters, if u will hear the sound of the 599 GTO with straight pipe and high rpm and cutoffs man it’s music!! but yes u r right depends how much would cost !

 

Most of the GTO sound comes from the 6-1 headers and low backpressure cats.

 

I already have Fabio full race system on my car and looking for a little more ! Do you have any advice for us ?

I have looked at changing to the GTO intake on my 599. Too expensive and from what little information I can find on google in throttle body has the same ID. Certainly there must be some improvement in the flow or they would not have taken to the time and investment to change the shape but I guess this is what gives the increased 'flow'

MB- With that set-up, I doubt you will be hearing anything from the intake manifolds. Bypass valves open is about the only thing I can think of to make her louder.

One thing about the GTO manifolds is they are prettier, whether or not they increase hp.

Trev and Sam, his US affiliate, have been doing updates online, but you would have to ask them about that. FedEx has been very reliable but understand you may be reluctant to use them.

 

The GTO intake manifolds have a larger volume than the gtb version; this is the basis for the performance increase I believe. It seeks to figure as the later cars that use this engine all seemed to adopt the same philosophy.

 

FYI I have a call planned for later in the week with the maker; will pass on details. To be clear, I’m not looking to be an agent or anything here- I’ll just pass on what I find out.

 

That GTO plenum looks fantastic.

Options to get the most out of the OEM (or potentially the remanufactured GTO) at a relatively low cost and easy:
1. BMC drop in filters.
2. Extrude hone and gasket match port the intake manifold.
3. Ceramic (header) coat the manifold to prevent heat soak from the heads.
