I turned the game off after 5 innings because it was 2-0 and looking like a pitchers' duel, so I missed the subsequent 10 runs. But I was lucky enough to turn it back on just in time to see the swingoff, a.k.a. Home Run Derby II. My best friend is a Phillies fan so I was happy with the outcome.

I enjoyed it as well, very nice show of the best talent. The best hitters going up against the best pitchers. Half the time the batters looked like stars and half the time the pitchers did. The way it should be. Although nothing traditional, the tie swing off was entertaining.

I went to the Braves-Yankees game last night, and the Yankees seem to be in a troubling situation right now. They started a reliever, Ian Hamilton, and he lasted one inning, during which he gave up 3 runs before the first out was made. On the other hand, Spencer Strider of the Braves seemed to be in mid-season form despite only recently coming off the injured list, striking out 8 and giving up only 3 hits in 6 innings.

A highlight regardless of who anyone was rooting for was Ronald Acuna Jr's amazing throw from the right-field corner to cut down a runner who was attempting to advance from 2nd to 3rd on a sacrifice fly. He threw the ball 301 feet on the fly and got the out!

Yeah, you cannot just sit down and watch a game anymore.

For some reason it is a CONSTANT flood of BS statistics that, quite frankly, make me sick.

I'm also very tired of the media all-but mailing the AL MVP to Aaron Judge.
Aaron is good - no doubt - but so far it's Cal Raleigh.

(I said the media - not the betting odds)

You must be watching the Stat Cast version of the broadcast?

If it was in ESPN, the StatCast version (stats-a-poppin’) is on ESPN 2, while the “regular” version (only lotsa-stats) is on ESPN.

'Since joining his new team, his average is blah-blah-blah....'

'The team with the worst record after acquiring (insert All-Star player name here) is....'

I'm just so sick of it....

And in some of the preseason NFL games, the crackpot announcers were
discussing some pro players statistics - FROM HIGH SCHOOL. Geezus.....

I think a lot of this is for sports betting.

Not the BS stats I keep seeing, they are 'unbetable'.

Some - yes, but most, no.

I'm not into sports betting but I think sports betters use these numbers, or maybe fantasy leagues.

    I mean the:
'Joe Blow hit 2 home runs and drove in 11 runs today,
and he also did the exact same thing in the Little League World Series
on this same exact date 12 years ago'
    type of stuff

The Dodgers have just completely fallen apart. Right now they are playing like the worst team in baseball.

They have played great in the first half
They have played lousy in the second half
But they still won their Division for the 23rd time in team history and 4th straight.
And if you spend the season watching Ohtani play, you start to understand just how he is one of the all time greats to step on a field.
