Couldn't find a video thread like this for the vintages so figured I'd create one. Surprisingly, there's quite a few new videos being created with vintage Ferrari's but they're not usually as easy to find as those of the newer models.

Feel free to post any interesting ones you find here.

New short driving video from Girardo & Co. of 250 SWB Comp SN 2127 GT

Any idea why Ferrari would say it is a 250 Testa Rossa Competizione / 335 in the description rather than the 412 S?

Because, today, they don't know anything about the cars from that era. All the knowledgeable people are gone and the staff at the factory today are not car guys or history buffs, just "employees".

I always knew 0744 as starting life with the prototype 3 litre Jano 4 cam engine and being called 312 S. Chassis tipo is 524. It then got the engine from the 412 MI (Monza Indianapolis) single seater that had previously been in Alfonso de Portago's 335 S chassis #0646 that he and Ed Nelson were tragically killed in the 1957 Mille Miglia. This car is often erroneously referred to as 412 MI, or nick named 412 MI, after the single seater that housed the 335 S 0646 engine, but I believe the correct term for it is 412 S.

0744 is now in the livery and numbered 53 as raced by Richie Ginther at Nassau in December, 1959, which I think is when it got the disc brakes fitted by the factory.

    0744.

Looks like the present day people at Ferrari Classiche may have used the document below which is a screen shot from the video which refers to the car driven by Gendebien at Spa on 18th May, 1958 as 250/TRC and they have interpreted that as 250 Testa Rossa Competizione.

    Bianchi's 250/TR = 250 Testa Rossa was customer spec chassis #0724 TR.

Below is what 0744 was generally known as with the prototype DOHC 3 litre engine as seen from Racing Sports Cars = 312 S which is not an official document. However, it certainly would not have been 0744MI especially at that point in time with the 3 litre engine.

    All speculation on my part.

PS: Does anyone have the build sheets for 0744 with either the DOHC 3 litre engine or the 335 S 0646/412MI engine?

Yet, there are some so-called experts today, even on this forum, exclaiming Ferrari Classiche/Factory being the only choice to correctly restore any historically significant Ferrari, while in many instances these same "experts" end up criticizing, discrediting or even ridiculing the outcome & certification of those restorations after the fact.

You can't deny that Tom Hartley Junior has commendably gone to a lot of trouble to restore a number of cars that he has, or has had for sale, in an authentic and period correct way by the artisans in Modena in which he claims that the cars drive better than those restored in North America and the UK. However, does being restored in the period correct way mean that they rust just as quickly as they did in period and are prone to rust more than those restored in North America and the UK?

Interesting story of how a 275 GTB was recently listed on a storage unit auction site. Anyone here see this when the auction was live?

275 GTB Short Nose which were from 1964 and 1965 so it's neither a 1966 275 GTB as stated or a 275 GTB/4 as stated in the IG post in this video.

@miurasv ...."However, does being restored in the period correct way mean that they rust just as quickly as they did in period and are prone to rust more than those restored in North America and the UK?"....

If Hartley says in Modena he found qualified craftsmen, i agree with him because there are plenty of them. But regarding the methods of a full restoration we need to open a big chapter to discuss them. My opinion is when you're dealing with Ferraris the range is wide because their value, also a sport car is different compared to a street car.

The subject 275 GTB is not actually the yellow Short Nose 275 GTB in the video and is actually a Long Nose 275 GTB 3 carb, torque tube pictured below.

One of my all time favorite videos and cars. Also while doting on this car and video and another thread... I didn't realize he was a member here. He reached out to me with a tremendous opportunity and is an absolute true gentleman.

    Give it a watch
