Titanium is a pain to weld. Fabio learned a few new tricks along the way, for sure.

I remember that from discussion, years ago, about constructing the Russian Alfa submarine,Titanium hulls. IIRC, they were welded in a large building that had an atmosphere of 100% Argon.

Correct. Titanium must be welded in an oxygen free environment. Most of the Ti comes from Russia and they used a lot of it in their aerospace industry so lots of experience there.

Fabio is a great. He is building a (humble SS) exhaust for my E31 too. I already have a full Fabio (SS) headers>tail pipes setup on my 575 and his muffler bypass on my 456M

Titanium isn't bad to weld IMO. It's kind of -sticky-. (easy to get filler rod stuck in the weld pool). Otherwise use a big gas lens, backpurge and you are good to go.

Fabios stuff is super nice btw

I dropped 119 lbs off the exhaust with 550 manifolds, stainless equal length downpipes & X pipe into Ti for the remainder of the system. There is a BUNCH of weight to be saved from the stock system. Glad to see he's making this, going to sound great.
