    Hi
Can anyone recommend an specialist Ferrari insurer as many insures wont touch me as I have no experience in a supercar e.g Porsche, Ferrari etc

    I'm 52 no convictions.

I do not have any NCB bonus as used on other cars.

I have tried Adrian Flux, Classic Line which will not quote me. Peter Best insurance want £8000.

I did however get a quote from Admiral which was £620.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi. I wouldnt personally touch Admiral for this type of car as I think you need more specialist cover. I guess however that does depend on the car you have and its value. I use Elevate who were recommended by my dealership ([email protected]). The cover includes things like agreed value cover and also allows for the car increasing in value. I was pleased with the cover I have which FYI was approx £4k. Im 56 and I do have NCB but I dont think that tends to come into the specialist cover.

You don't say what your first Ferrari might be - if its under fifty grand it might be worth risking Admiral to have some cover whilst gaining experience prior to future renewals - over the years there's been plenty of other suggestions - just keep calling - FOC are partnered with Locktons

I spoke to Locktons earlier but would not quote as no experience of a supercar. e.g Ferrari, Mclaren, Lambo. They did not consider high performance Audi's or hot hatches :-(

Peter James gave me same response as Locktons.

I'll give RH Specialists Insurance a try.

Are you in London / some other high risk area and is the car garaged? I assume you have considered adding it to the policy on which you insure other cars - it may however be worth trying the reverse: see if one of the specialists would take on your Ferrari if you were to give them your other cars, too and / or transfer your NCB to the Ferrari.

That might be your best bet if you don't have any luck. £620 doesn't sound too bad - the last year I had my 550 on my policy (with Peter James) it was costing me about £450.

If you trust Admirals you are not going to get a better quote, but read the small print and take out legal cover.

I use FirstPoint and have also had good quotes from Lockton but I wanted an "all cars" policy and, at the time, they only wanted the Ferrari.

I think a while ago there was a bunch of write-offs in year one of ownership so several insurers decided to restrict to previous ownership (even if its a year with Admiral)

Basically a lot of the insurers want you to have one years insurance/experience on a supercar.

They would not consider a owner of say an Audi RS or BMW M car, as these too are not considered as superars despite some being more powerful.

    Footman James quoted me £1200.
One condition they stated it had to be kept in locked garage between 9am and 9pm and not kept on road or driveway!
