Harping back to Racing Through Europe I recollect several reviews online which convinced me to buy my first Palawan book. Early days, think Palawan need to start loaning out this one, need to be convinced.
I have almost all Palawan titles in my library. The Project book is one of the best. I would be happy to buy it for even double the retail price.
It’s a complete new work by two preeminent authors. Design and art by Stuart Brill, who did all AM books for Palawan. If you like this kind of car there is no better option (other than driving it) to enjoy.
Due to Palawan Press, less than 20 copies left of the standard edition of Aston Martin 'Project' GT Racing Cars at the introducing price of GBP 750.00. So, I thought: High time to order my copy
20 left? This must be one if not the fastest selling titles in their library ever. No mean achievement especially due to its relatively high initial price.
My copy was swiftly delivered, very safely packed in line with Palawan standards, and thank God without any difficulties with German customs offices. I just looked through once, and what instantly catched my eye was a note at the beginning that the book is dedicated to the late Paul Kinder, who is remembered in that note as being "one of the pillars of Palawan Press". The dedication is a noble and generous gesture by Palawan. My compliments! I have been in contact with Paul several times, and he was a great and friendly guy who left much too early. Now, I am even more happy that I ordered a copy.
Purchased no 118 last week. Excellent quality book with lots of info on this rare car.The numerous black and white workshop photos are just brilliant, fit to frame as works of art on a wall !
Just to clarify. I’m pretty sure the “ 20 left “ referred to the first price bracket as per the pricing below. So it meant 120 left in total. I have not checked with Palawan. Total of 250 books. £750 first 150 copies. £1000 next 50 copies. £1500 final 50 copies.
Yes, I had the "Owners Edition" of Gullwing. But I never got warm with it, and I am afraid there are better books about the legendary 300 SL. Of course, Palawan production quality provides joy. But as far as content and illustration are concerned, I was a little bit disappointed. Maybe, too high expectations? I paid more than 700 euros for the Owners Edition, and was happy to find someone, after long search, who paid me 460 euros to take it.
I ordered back in April and have no. 101. If they are being sold in order I'd say sales have slowed down a bit after release. I'm currently reading it and it's really good. I hesitated a bit because of the price, even though I have a lot of the other Palawan books. But I'd say it's well worth it. It's all relative of course, 750 quid remains a lot of money for a book.
Hi Karel, same with me: a lot of hesitation, but now that I have it, I am glad. Just arrived at page 50 with page-by-page reading, but I have to say: just brilliant!
