Dinoparts has a replacement that's a snap on. Further investigation into my linkages shows they're still a little sloppy (after 71k miles), even with the set screws fully in. The balls are in good shape and measure out to an acceptable tolerance. For reference: The ball is 8mm diameter, M5 thread. AMZ. be sells them. https://www.amazon.com.be/-/en/SOLIDfy-Ball-71805-Safety-Galvanised/dp/B07K8WKBGJ?th=1&language=en_GB Dinoparts part: https://www.dinoparts.com/en/parts-accessories/ferrari/208-308-gt4/carburetors-fuel-supply/carbs-linkage-more/14721/throttle-linkage-208-308 Is it original? no. Do i care? no. will I keep the originals for someone who does? yes. sjd
Weren't the 70's great? Ferrari badges were put on a lot of Dino GT4, we all know this... Image Unavailable, Please Login but how bad could it have bee done? This bad: This is the dino recess, fillered over (You can see it cracking above), and the ferrari badge added.... LOL!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Haha, yeah, I've seen a number like that. Sometimes you can even see a faint outline of the horizontal Dino badge recess underneath the Ferrari badge. Since most of the rebadging (if not all?) was done by dealers, I'm sure they cut as many corners as possible in the name of cost-savings. Quality of work will vary!
Been a while. I'm terrible at taking pics to share that show anything exciting. Carbs are assembled, waterpump is rebuilt, cams are in and timed. Engine should go back in this weekend.
While the engine was out, I did the diff seals....they needed it....hahaha... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Then I built a 22" longer bar for the engine crane, counterweighted it with a bag of concrete and the old spare, and plopped the engine in. Image Unavailable, Please Login Had a couple helpers... I have to rebuild the CV's, so the axles were already out. Went in super easy. Drop it down slow and there are no issues. Today was finish tightening the front header, finish mounting the engine, set the shift linkage, 2nd was all the way up in the gate, and neutral was in the bottom of the 2nd gear gate... now it's all tidy in the middle. Rebuilt the CVs, cleaned, new boots and grease. working from the bottom up. Cooling pipes are next.
Hunting around for a new grounding strap, becasue my original is 50 years old and very frayed, I found this one and took a chance. AC Delco EGS8. the holes are about 9-10mm (3/8"). It should work great. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Carbs on and basic static adjustments made. Image Unavailable, Please Login I'll paint the airbox before final install. I need to replace the rubber grommets. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Compressed to say that everything is tightened down. sure...probably a couple tenths of a mm....they're not soft, for sure. It wouldn't be a big deal to make thicker ones from phenolic or something. There is plenty of thread for probably double the thickness. not sure about those 1" spacers though.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
