575 FHP Shocks

Mine came with that

 

The coilovers are direct drop in for both 550 & 575. The suspension error modules are plug and play but a separate option only available for 575M & Superamerica.

 

I’m assuming the MSC coilovers don’t retain the adjustable damper technology found in the OEM Sachs? Do people who’ve made the switch not miss that?

 

They would not retain electric damping adjustment, no.

 

I’m honestly not expecting to. The simpler the better, IMO.

 

I heard that late MY 575s had a system where outer shocks stiffened as you went into corners, and generally people found this to be a very enjoyable sensation. I’ve never driven a 575 with that but supposing I did have it, I would be reluctant to get rid of it

 

Affirmative, after AN 52556 (late Nov 2003) there is a steering position sensor that provides lead into turn info to the shock ECU.

 

Oh, they’re available…if you feel like dropping nicely-loaded, brand new SUV $ on all four corners.

 

FOW are putting the MSCs on today, I ended up sending them up there because the ASR controller took an eternity to arrive from Italy.

They asked “how do you want them set?” And I was like, “well…let’s turn ‘em all the way up!”

Im expecting solid results from these coupled with the MSW bar.

 

That seems insanely high. I had my front pair replaced last year and the total was $8,992. The price for the pair of shocks was $6,310. 4 hours of labor. They also replaced the ball joints.

 

If there is a good independent shop in your area I'd get a quote from them. My guys didn't have any trouble finding OEM shocks, albeit expensive.

 

That is closer to independent shop costs. From a dealer at MSRP its quite a bit more...

 

If anyone is ever in London I'd be happy to get you into my 575, if timing works, to compare. AN 56713 with FHP so possibly as firm as OEM got aside from HGTC.

 

Affirmative, she has the HGTC shocks and mounts, too, and stiffer than HGTC rear anti-roll bar. Since she has the FHP steering ECU and HGTC uses the standard steering ECU, she likely feels stiffer. Only missing the waterproof F1 sensor and cable, unless the clutch has been replaced.

 

With the terrible condition of many UK roads I do sometimes wish that the bumpy road suspension setting was available for these.

 

It is, you just have to turn off the sport switch.

 

I don't find that makes any discernable difference to ride quality.

 

I feel the same way. I can’t sense the sport button making a difference in power or ride quality, neither in shifting speed. It does
make a huge difference in down shifting, as it gives throttle blips between downshifts - and i love that. Even it’s not good for the clutch wear. But it’s about enjoying the drive. So.

 

In actual fact synchronizing the throttle on down shifts lessens clutch and gearbox wear, cutting down on the clutch and synchronizer rings having to do the synchronizing of the clutch and gearbox on downshifts as well as upshifts. Try downshifting or upshifting on a dog-clutch or straight gear transmission to demonstrate it to yourself. Having driven quite a few heavy trucks with those transmissions myself, I can guarantee it.

 

Good to know. Makes perfect sense. The boring way would be to put it in neutral when coming to a red light. But I love shifting down the gears. The sound is lovely.
