Alonso gets that POS into Q3 and is currently P10 on the starting grid. (Zandvoort qualifying).

Lance, not so much and yet another Q1 exit extending his ALL-TIME F1 RECORD.

After an incredible P3 in FP1 which made headlines, Stroll destroys his chassis in FP2 with a common unforced error, forcing the mechanics to work till 1 am to get it ready for today. Stroll in top form drifts off the track for no reason on a hot lap and again throws his car into the wall, again forcing his mechanics to work and repair the car for tomorrow's race. Stroll only thinking about himself, didn't even bother to look if anyone was coming as he bolted down the hill back on the track. Thankfully the Red Bull driver (Verstappen?) had slowed down respecting the yellow flags and there wasn't a devastating T-Bone crash. Good thing the car wasn't capable of a Q3.... oh wait.

I kinda liked watching him put 2 wheels on the grass going into the corner during qualifying. The real Lance is so entertaining!

team put the car together after his big crash yesterday, late night at the garage...first thing he does is **** it into the wall again. Interview he was disinterested, no apology to the team. Why is he in F1 again? He's a talentless *******.

Unfortunately the car did not make much progress. I was very hopeful after practice where both Alonso and Lance did great times. But the car still sucks with a tenth place for Alonso.

    Still hopeful for next season.

Did we talk about the second off in Q1, called 'elementary' mistake in the coverage? Nah, I guess it's not that important.

Super race by Stroll coming from 20th place all the way into the points even beating his teammate.

    Yes, we can.
Lance finished 7th, ahead of his twice-WDC team mate Alonso.

Lance drove a good race helped by three retirements in front of him and good strategy from the pit wall.

Clearly he thrashed Fernando. Any chance that he will replace Antonelli at Mercedes? That's the rumor.

Will the Strollers points haul cover all the damage he did to the car when he stuffed it into the wall this weekend? Sorry, BOTH times?

I think one of the most entertaining things about this thread is seeing how the haters justify when Stroll has a good performance:

First practice - 'no points for practice', etc, etc.

Outscores teammate from last on the grid while collecting points - 'lucky with retirements', 'points won't cover the damage bill', 'benefitted from good team strategy'.

Fact is that again in a race littered with drama by others he kept it clean and delivered for the team. Beating his teammate who started much further up the field is a bonus. BTW am I the only one who saw Alonso as a petulant whiner on the radio today? What does the peanut gallery have to justify that :D

Alonso is a whiner, which he showed us all again today. And Stroller is still a loser. Which he has amply demonstrated over and over and over during his ‘career’. Cool he got points today. Doesn’t change anything. No other team is suddenly rushing to sign him.

Good performance? He cracked up the car twice. No one scores points for free practice. He’s still a record holder for most Q1 exits. He doesn’t have respect from the other drivers. He shifts blame for his stupidity. And only two or three people here root for him.

Seriously, what value does he or has he ever added to this sport besides his daddy’s money?

All so true. As for the lucky strategy:
It worked at first until he had to do his 2nd tire stop which unfortunately for him happened just before LeClerc crashed. He could have gotten a cheap tire stop during that.

And yes, I didn't quite get Alonso's complaining: Passing at Zandvoort is difficult and the track is so short, not much the team could have done. As for Lance keeping his nose clean: First you have to arrive before you arrive first. Something Sir Hamilton forgot, and a few others.

Oh and btw: Lance is once again the points leader within his team.

A quarter of a century spent pounding around in F1 cars has taken a toll on Fernando. He is trying to hold on for the Newey car but don't know if he is up to the challenge?

Well, if it hadn't been for Zandvoort where passing is difficult, Alonso probably could have stretched his legs a bit and ended up ahead of Lance.

Agreed he is waiting for the Newey car and new regulations. Remains to be seen how much that will improve the car, but one can hope. And if it doesn't, I'd wager next year is Alonso's last season.
