With Ferrari or any other team? Will he ever win an F1 world championship? I have my doubts seeing him stranded on that hill at the Dutch Grand Prix forever without them coming to get him… although I would like to see him win one with Ferrari. Robb
Norris was stranded as well when his car grenaded. As for Leclerc, he's not going to win a WDC title with Ferrari as much as he loves Ferrari. Vettel was right when he signed Leclerc's helmet "Don't waste your talent!" as if to forewarn Leclerc. Wanting to drive for Ferrari isn't the same as driving WITH Ferrari. Once you get in with Scuderia and spend time with them, your red tinted glasses soon lose their luster and it gets clear and you have to ask yourself "What the hell am I doing here?" I voted no.
Not as long as he's with Ferrari, and by the time he's done with them there will be new talent taking all the other top spots. Unless he gets lucky with an unexpected rising team (see Brawn or recent McLaren) he's already done.
Having watched Charles Leclerc since his debuts in F1, I am convinced that he will never be WDC. He is undeniably fast, but too inconsistent over a season, IMO. He also devoted his career to Ferrari, and that proves to be a big handicap for success too.
Sadly I doubt it. Ferrari are so far away from winning a championship so I can never see it happening with them. But I still don't think Leclerc is championship material. 2022 the Ferrari was the fastest car for about 12 races and Ferrari and Leclerc himself wasted that opportunity. Charles is insanely fast from time to time but a championship is about points and he doesn't maximize the points over an entire season. He's destroying Lewis this season and yet he is only 42 points ahead of him. Meanwhile Russell is 120 pts ahead of Kimi. If he's competing against competitors in cars that are 1 or 2 tenths plus or minus to his car, I struggle to see him beating Oscar Piastri and definitely not Max in a 24 race season.
He will need to be lucky like hammy who went to merc at just the right time meaning still talented with a rising team. That's a tough combo to luck into.
LEC also made lots of early mistakes on track that cost him past points. But his mental game is better. Where is the crossover or peak of mental game and raw talent is still unknown. We might be already witnessing it and if true then he is wasting his time at ferrari.
Agree with many previous posters. Likable guy, very fast, but inconsistent himself over a whole season and in a team that in recent years has lacked both consistency and performance. I would love to see him win a WDC even once but I don't think it's likely. All the best, Andrew.
Yep He even took out his phone while waiting(looks like he turned it sideways as in texting)......YES!!! He carries his phone with him in the car.
Someone either ran his phone out to him or loaned him one. It's not believable that with weight being as critical as it is in F1 that any team would let a driver carry his phone with him in the car as an effective weight penalty. And with all the crash regulations, it's not believable that the FIA would allow single seat drivers to have phones in the cockpit with them during live sessions. All the best, Andrew.
He’s the fastest driver on the grid after Max. But there’s no chance for a WDC with Ferrari as currently organized, and no #1 openings at championship level teams for years to come. I’m not convinced he’s as “inconsistent” as some say. I think the team's lack of coherent racecraft, tire choices, driver support, etc., tend to make him appear to be inconsistent.
"To be honest" ....No..... Then again this could also apply to Lando or Lewis ? Stroll ,,dont go there
He will in a car capable of winning, assuming he can master it, and minimize mistakes in the cockpit along with the pitwall. I do not see the team building it just yet. Yes next year it might appear of course!
I think hes gotten to be a much better racer in the last few years. Still emotional. but much more controlled at least behind the wheel. On the radio, not so much.
Yeah, I wondered about that too. Leclerc must have borrowed a phone from a member of the public perhaps.

No sure Max could repeat at Ferrari the success he had at Red Bull: it's just a different type of team.
