Has anyone submitted and heard back please? I received the email that registration was open so submitted my 328 in March and received polite robot email with promise to respond soon. Heard nothing for months July 14 I still have heard nothing, so I sent again and still no response. Registraton closes in just weeks so I guess I get the hint?
I intend to send in an application in the next 2 weeks. It does not surprise me if you didn't get notification. Yes, it closes on Sept 1. I think acceptance will come after they get in all the apps and then pick and choose. If they got 15 328's I doubt they would accept all 15 Maybe 3. So I think they wait to see what they got. BTW, I'm not submitting my 328. I expect to submit the Fiat Dino Spider (if we can finish which I think we can). I have no idea what the criteria is for acceptance or not. But to me last year's show was a little smaller than the last few years. Not sure if that's by design or there are fewer applications.
I was considering submitting my 458 but the application is too complex, and I don't have the answer to most questions that seem more applicable to 20's-30's classics than a pseudo modern Ferrari.
I wouldn't worry about it. Just submit. Put in N/A in those areas. Most of that information is for those cars what will be judged. Worst that can happen is they ask for more info, but I doubt it. A lot depends on how many cars apply.
Some pics I'm sending in today taken in front of O'gara McLaren. If you've never restored a classic car, you have no idea how difficult and stressful it is. 1 step forward and 2 steps back! They better let me in! This weekend is the deadline. Still got quite a few things to do to get it running like installing the new electronic ignition and rebuilt carbs. But I'm happy with it. Paint is stunning Bob! The service team at O’Gare have killed it. Hopefully now they can get my Defender done. lmao
You can blame me. I'm so sorry. But we are almost done. I think just a few more days of work. This poor car looked like a piece of junk in their shop for so long. I'm happy it finally looks like something of value.
lol…..no blame. It hasn’t been a priority since I’ve had to wait for the bond on the title to expire before I can register it. But that happened on 5 Aug so I’m excited to get to drive it. Your car was a project but it’s turned out fantastic!
Soooooooooooooooo,... I got a response this morning that my submission was received and that I'll be notified when there is a decision on the vehicle.
your dino looks great ! can't imagine why it was not accepted for the show , maybe they favor the newer , " latest and greatest " supercars.
Went today and it was easily the most insane lineup of cars I’ve ever seen in one place. 60 Bugattis, 20 Paganis, some amazing classics, etc etc. This is the first time I’ve gone, will have to do it every year.
There was already a (solid) burgundy Fiat Dino on display, so that’s my assumption they already had that entry. Was an incredible show. Many cars I’d never seen IRL. Horacio Pagani, Christian von Koenigsegg, Tim Cook (Apple), Magnus Walker, Barry Meguiar, founders of Czinger, Gunther Werks, etc. in the crowds. They were trying to set records for most Bugattis, most Paganis and over 250 Lambos. You are the wrong audience. . Only one is enough? Modern supercars are most impressive but not always beautiful Watch the YT videos on "demise of vegas" and they accuse resorts of only catering to The Whale Great example is the Wynn Concours. Do you notice that the Alfa and Ferrari Clubs refuse to be involved? Car guy Jay Leno.... anywhere? I once hoped this would be better than Monterey but even the La Jolla concours bests this
A couple of things (I was there yesterday). Its becoming too corporate Its becoming too super car-ish (Do you really need to see FIFTY Bugattis or 30 Paganis?) No one gives a crap about Ferrari. There wasn't one 246 Dino, 308 or 328. I don't think Towbin was involved. There's no question the amount of classics is diminishing for new "super cars" That being said, I know exactly why I was turned down -- and I AGREE with it. There was another Fiat Dino Spider there. It was the rarer 2.4 version. It was also the same car that car that sold at RM Auctions in Monterey for $310K in August. I talked to the daughter and son-in -law of the owner (who was not there) about the car. Very nice people from Venice CA. We talked about the car and the auction. Nice car but I would have had the paint corrected. So I lost out because a rarer, more expensive model that submitted its paperwork earlier was selected. I felt much better after that. Maybe next year!
Some pics I took. The Wynn Golf Course itself is really beautiful. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I thought I would never see an Alfa Romeo Stradale 33 in person. Yet, there it was all by itself. In a sea of super cars, it seemed lost. But this car and the color was amazing.
