Two more photos from the 13 May 1951 formula 2 race at Monza. Ascari and Fangio, possibly battling for the lead of the first heat, in the cropped, photo. The second photo shows Fangio in his 166, possibly the car Giovanni Bracco drove at the Siracuse GP in March. The painted-over no12 on the engine cover was Bracco's number at Siracuse. Mario Raffaeli used this car to win the Rome GP in June 1951. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Was that car ever owned by Mr Sachs, from Connecticut? Seems like I remembered something about it from the 70s. Where is the car now and what is its status? Just curious! Bob Z.
Looks to have A pillars. If so that means this picture is after the first showings of the car when p f add the A pillars. Originally done as a cantilevered roof.
Bob, You are correct. When I started working for PGS the car was in his collection. It has a formula one motor in it with 24 spark plugs. This I know first hand because I changed them to prepare it for sale to Greg Garrison. Greg had a collection of one off Ferraris with special coachwork all of which was restored in Modena. I saw the car again last week at Blenheim Palace where Bob Lee’s widow had it on display. It won the People’s choice award.

Peter J. Agg (Trojan) in the UK sold it 1980 to PGS. A year later on to Greg G who sold it to Lee in 2002. When Delamater had it in 1966 it was painted re-sale red. See also the beautiful color brochure produced 1977 by former owner Donald Dethlefsen of Lake Forest/IL. Marcel Massini
