F1 2025 Monza (Temple of Speed) Pre-Race Thread

They need a few high speed roller skate wheels under there to take the load before the plank.

 

Ferrari still hasn’t taken a win this season, and there would be no better place to change that than Monza. The Tifosi have waited all year for a moment to cheer, and if the team can deliver on Sunday it would mean everything. Monza has always been Ferrari’s temple, and a victory here would feel like a true rebirth. Like always, the atmosphere at Monza is set to be incredible with special events like driver interviews featuring Hamilton, Leclerc, Verstappen, Norris and Antonelli, as detailed here. A victory on home soil would make an already unforgettable atmosphere even more special.

 

The first chicane (Turn 1 & 2) will create havoc as usual. Variante dela Roggia and Ascari aren't so bad.
Being so close to the starting line, the concertina effect is felt in the field, causing contacts, sending some on the escape route, etc ... It happens every year, but the authorities don't seem to mind ...
That's the only aspect I don't like at Monza, one of the best classic circuits on the calendar.

1) WTF is LICO?

2) What are the regulations regarding the plank; can they be replaced over the race weekend and if so how often; do you have to use the same plank for qualifying and the race?

Thanks Joe. Can teams change the planks throughout the race weekend or are they limited to one per race(allowing for accidents)?

 

practice the use is free, not sure if you can change it after quali or not. But if you significantly worn it in quali then you have no hope with fuel in the car anyways lol

 

F1 would save many tens of millions if they just mandated flat bottoms and dispensed with all of the aero nonsense. What do I know?

 

to be fair the plank has been part of the sport for at least 30+ years...it's purely a cheap and easy way to measure ride height so we don't go too low and gain a big advantage

 

If all teams "go too low" what is the big advantage....?

 

The place would go nuts for sure but let’s not kid ourselves. The odds of them doing well aren’t good. It really would take a few miracles and lucky breaks to get a good result.

Maybe they have some cheater card they can play here? Lord knows they are gonna need it.

 

They will be disqualifed if they get caught.

 

It´s made for safety reasons, to slow down the cars and avoid a sudden loss of downforce for bottoming out.

To be honest, now they could use something more elaborate, like laser sensors and so on. Also the plank can get worn by the kerbs, so it's not really a good measure of ride height.

“Podiums” (I even hate the word) is my least favorite measure of success. I think the whole podium thing is absurd except for the winning driver. The other two are known as “losers.”

 

To have any chance this weekend they should have painted them 1988 colors…..

Now those are trophies anyone would be proud to receive. If Ferrari can nab just one of them this weekend it will happen because of the gods.

 

This PR hype isn't going to make the car faster. In fact they will probably embarrass Lauda, wherever his is.

 

Hamilton should become a male model. Posing is all he does these days.
