Well two weeks after I got my f355 spider I was driving on windy roads in the mountains having a great time when a deer ran out in front of me. I hit the brakes, turned and the deer broadsided my 355. Fortunately the damage was mostly just the side passenger mirror that was crushed. So I purchased a new side mirror assembly and now I’m wondering how to replace the old one. Do I have to remove the door panel or is there an easier way? I’d like to replace the mirror myself if possible. I’m not very mechanically inclined so any help is appreciated.

Very sorry to hear about your mishap!

For the mirror: you need to remove the triangular inner trim on the door. There are some small cross head screws that hold that inner plate on. Take that trim piece off noting how the seals intersect with the trim. There’s a foam filler piece to remove which is there for wind noise. Then you can get at the 10mm nuts that hold the mirror on. Undo those and the mirror can be pulled away from the door. Unplug the electrical connector and the mirror is off. Then do the reverse for reassembly.

It’s very straightforward. The main thing to make sure of is that seals sit back where they were otherwise you might get wind noise or water ingress. Also, don’t be tempted to over tighten the nuts holding the mirror on.

As you go thru this repair... is the little outside cover in the underside of your mirror still there and intact? I would love to purchase or acquire it if its still there and not damaged (or terribly so). Color doesnt matter
