He questioned it over team radio because of a slow pit stop by Mclaren.

I know if Max was told to give the place back, he wouldn't do it if a similar situation came up with RedBull.

Even worse --- is that what McLaren is like the rest of the season? They screw up a pit stop and then force their drivers to give it back? Its complete nonsense. If Ferrari did this the F1 world would be on fire today.

What happens NEXT TIME? If this were the last race of the season and the winner was on the line, would Mac force Oscar to give it back?

So McLaren allows their drivers to race? Like in Montreal? And Spa where Oscar locked up trying to pass Norris? Understood.

I was listening the BBC Radio commentary and they mentioned that communication to Max who chuckled. :)

Lambiase: “Norris and Piastri have swapped places, Max.”

Max: “Hahahaha! Just because he had a slow stop?”

Lambiase: “It's not our business, but I guess it keeps it fair between the drivers in terms of the championship. You focus on the road ahead, please.”

Oh my a lockup?? No mention of genius at work here below eh?? The engine failure part of racing. Pit stop errors PART OF racing. The argument is beyond simple. Lando chose to bypass his own stop and put Oscar on a stop he didnt ask for lol. Lando owns the OUTCOME. He didnt earn P2 today at that point. The standard and utterly common error in the pits did him in via a choice he made. Part of being in the real world. At some point teams cannot be allowed to reset drivers for utterly common errors they create. Its a beyond simple argument that teams have lived with for YEARS. Team orders itself is long overdue to be removed along with about 99% of non safety related COACHING and advise they, drivers, get from the pitwall.

Teams used to allow their drivers to race in the past: that's what the public pays to watch !!!
Ron Dennis did let Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost fight on the track, and they did.
Frank Williams allowed Piquet and Mansell to race each other. They even lost a championship that way !
This business of team orders is nauseating, and not a good advert for F1.
The 2025 championship can hardly escape a McLaren driver, so why interfere in the debate ?

Oscar should have told them to **** off. Last time I checked he was fighting for the championship. Lando got unlucky with that slow stop, but that's the teams fault, NOT Oscar's.... I hope at the end of the season this decision doesn't come back to bite him in the arse.

Dudes. we already had the team orders and coaching bans, and it didn't work. They just did It more subtle; sometimes it was even embarassing.

I think team orders are part of the sport. The only way of eliminating them would be with one team cars. And even them, there would be orders between Red Bull and Racing Bulls or between teams with the same engine.

Lando owns the crash in Montreal. Had he not crashed and just finished the race and didn’t have the power unit issue in the last race, he would be leading the points over Oscar. I wonder how much more lando/mclaren hate there would be. Lol

It's YOU who calls it "Lando hate"; it's nothing of the sort.
It's simply general incomprehension why McLaren, the team that leads the championship, decides to mollycoddle one of its drivers at the expense of his team mate.
Piastri has demonstrated in less than 2 years that he is largely equal in talent to Norris, if not superior.
So why has he been asked in several instances to be subservient, mostly now that he leads the championship ?
Thankfully Oscar Piastri doesn't look fussed about it, which says a lot about his strength of character.

You mean like when they asked Oscar to let Lando pass in Hungary last year? Oh wait….

and no- it’s not me calling it Lando hate- just read the thread. Frankly I could care less but I find it so comical with all the attention on McLaren when Ferrari can’t seem to get its head out of it own ass.

Oscar is the better driver. You get no argument from me there.

There hardly is hate for Lando on this forum. I do think more people prefer Piastri over Norris but it's more to do that he's more down to earth and doesn't need as much coddling as Norris does. I think people relate to Piastri a lot more here than Norris who a lot of gen Z seem to relate to a lot more.

I like Norris, I prefer Piastri.

Well, Ferrari is another subject. They are out of the championship race again this year.
I have been through with that team for years: they are a dysfunctional team with a catalogue of errors.
Remore control management, revolving door, blame mentality and chronical instability ...

Quite surprising to see Max back off the F1.tv picture!! -- so far gone ahead -- not on tv from laps 4-22!! I never expected him to have pace, even if the track favours their car somewhat. A flash from the past!

It comes petty close to hate. He gets skinned pretty regularly just because. We’ll just call it palpable disdain.:D

I like Lando. Seems like a good chap and a good driver. At one point I ranked him top 4 in F1. His own driving has proven me wrong. Any team owner that wants to win would choose Piastri over Lando at this point. That's not hate, that's just reality.

    Lando cracks under pressure.

Piastri doesn't. Very calm, cool, and collective but a very aggressive demeanor about him.

I used to like Norris, but he has said stuff that makes him look like Russell-lite, and has not backed it up enough. Piastri, on the other hand, just entered the sport, keeps his head down, shuts his mouth, and leads the championship. He's a driver who hasn't given anyone a reason to dislike him or question his skill.

Here are 3 drivers I find interesting to follow at the moment: Max, competitive in all circumstances, Piastri taking the lead at McLaren, and Hadjar remarkable as a rookie.

no, it's manipulation by Zak the Chub for Lando, and the repeated putting the screws to Oscar besmirches Lando's record, and should he win the WDC it's blackened. Of course driving Max off the track builds his rep too.

A lot of people seem to be emotionally invested in this. I’m not sure why. Frankly, Brown has proven to be superior to every other team principal this season by purely objective measure. Today he could have done one of two things: 1). Nothing. 2). What he did. Either way people would be unhappy. Norris would have to win the championship by today’s point differential for it to cloud his championship, on the chance that he wins it. So do you subscribe to the theory that Brown overtly favors Norris?
