    Hello,

Ever since I purchased my 2nd 458, I've noticed that the brakes just don't feel right. There's no initial bite, braking deceleration is terrible, and easily suffers from brake fade at the track. Braking just isn't how I remember it on my first 458.

I took the brake pads out and noticed that the Brembo pads don't have barcodes on them. I did some searching and noticed that photos from reputable stores like Eurospares, Scuderia Parts, Ricambi, etc all show pads with barcodes on them.

I found questionable listings on ebay for "Brembo" pads at 1/4 the price and what caught my attention is they have the Brembo and Ferrari logos blurred out - a typical sign for counterfeiters.

I have a suspicion that the previous owner inadvertently bought counterfeit products. You can see on mine, there are no barcodes, exactly like the ones in the questionable eBay listing:

Additionally, Brembo's website states that all of their products have QR codes on them:

Can anyone here confirm their genuine pads have barcodes or not?

    Thanks.

I bought some from AW Italian in 2023. No bar codes. They seem fine.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate.

Did you have any issues using the included hardware kit?

The previous owner said the two pins that secure the spring bracket for the front calipers were too short, he had to reuse the original pins.

Hi, I bought some Brembo pads for my 488 from eBay. Big mistake! They look like the same as the real ferrari brembos but they did not feel the same. I took the car with new pads to the track and it lasted 2 x 20 minute sessions and were completely gone. Fortunately I stopped before they damaged the carbon rotors.

I DO NOT recommend buying "Brembo" Ferrari pads from eBay. They are not the real thing!

Yes - I think I re-used the old pins up front. Rear were OK.

Update: Installed Pagid RSC2 pads front and rear. Massive improvement. Definitely had counterfeit Brembo pads before - Buyer beware! :)

Initial bite is superior, as soon as I touch the brake pedal, the response is instant. I had installed stainless steel brake lines and it never improved the initial pedal response and bite on the fake pads. First sign that something wasn't right.

Additionally, in the dry, I could never get the ABS to activate on the fake pads, no matter how hard I stood on the pedal - another sign something wasn't quite right.

Now, after bedding in the pads, threshold braking will strain your neck and pop your eyeballs out of your head like it should :D
