Does anyone know which microswitches activate in which order? Particularly when stowing the top down. My capote flaps are not closing once the top is completely stowed and tonneau cover is fully closed. I know the flap cables from the flap motor are good as they were recently replaced. I believe the flap motor is ok, but that is a guess at this point. When attempting to close the capote flaps I hear a selenoid noise, but they don't move. I was guessing perhaps the microswitch that tells the flaps that the top is stowed and out of the way so the flaps could close would be the culprit, thus the flap motor not running. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
EVA has to be closed and EVZ has to be open circuit. Image Unavailable, Please Login i.e. EVA must be pushed and EVZ must be un-pushed. The roof flap won't start moving until the canvas is fully down. If you lean on the canvas and activate the roof switch at the same time, does the lid move? Is the canvas folding properly? Diagnostic chart here (See Lowering Softop (Step 9)):
I’ll take a look and see if they are out of calibration. If not, could it be a good indication iif failed micro switches? And if so which or just do both?
The switch connectors may be hard to get to, so it might be difficult to do continuity checks on the switches. If I had to guess the faulty switch, I would say EVA, but check the calibration and try to see if the switches feel/sound ok when you push on them. Can you try pushing down on the canvas to see if EVA makes better contact? Other folks have done this and the lid has closed. A good scanner will tell you if the switches are good or not, but if you haven't got one, then I would do as much as you can without one.
my tonneau top closes perfectly. It’s the capote flaps that remain open. So the top is completely stowed and everything looks normal. It’s just the 2 flaps are not closing. my guesses are either a failed flap motor or micro switch issues.
Sorry, my mistake, but still the same preconditions for the flaps and lid activation. I guess it could be the motor (or the flap switches are not in the right positions). i.e. EFZ and EFA. Maybe best if you go to your indy to confirm that these are ok.
Ok, so next question, assuming the microswitches are good, I would guess perhaps the flap motor is bad? I just replaced the cables about a year and a half ago so I dont think its those? If the motor is bad, is there any instruction as how to change the motor? I haven't found one, and search hasn't helped me. Thanks!
There is a procedure in the WSM. It seems somewhat complicated. It involves removing the lid, removing the "glove compartment support stand", positioning the roof in a certain position, removing the roll bar cover, etc, etc.
