I'm contemplating using this kit to convert mine. Looks straightforward, no ECU removal. Completely reversible (why you'd want to)!

It’s not my fault you don’t recognise OEM parts :p

Drive a converted car before you commit. The cable operated shift is baulky and lacks mechanical feel compared to rod operated.

Factory manual 360s have a cable linkage, 550/575 rod linkage. Is that what you meant?

Yes, I'm fairly sure that a factory manual 430 is a rod too. Cables are a convenient but inferior engineering solution.

For me, most of the pleasure of a manual shift is in the mechanical feel - the so-called "rifle bolt" action. You just don't get this with a cable.

Of course, any cable is better than the VW-derived floppy, vague gearshift found in a 60-80's Porsche 911 :)

I stand corrected, the 430 manual is cable operated. But a lot of design effort would have gone into the attachment brackets and linkage at the gearbox. I can't imagine that the kit-makers could match this.

911s of that era do everything well but at the end of the day they are deadset BORING. Hence why I ended up flipping mine after 18mths. Modern 911s are doubly BORING and I’d never buy one. Nothing compares to firing up a Ferrari engine, even a Mondial :)

That would be the hard bit, choosing a kit that replicates the OEM feel

Are you suggesting that BORING people can't have a car made for them?

I suppose you think there are only 2 genders too?

Bringing the Mondy to cars & coffee tomorrow?

I'll be there, to add to the excitement.

I think anything would be more satisfying than flicking a paddle up and down. I don't mind the F1, I have no real gripe with it, I'm just a manual guy and have always driven manual cars. I wanted a manual 360 but this car came up and I bought it on the condition of the car. I've driven a manual 360 and it seemed fine, it's a relatively short throw between gears and I can't imagine there is much stretch in a cable that length to be too noticeable. The guys that did the conversion in the video had an OEM manual 360 in their shop and they said the kit (once properly adjusted) felt better to drive.

Pap is moving into the 21st century and now accepting Centre Link Payments, NILS, EFTPOS, but cash is always the preferred payment method at Murri Motors.:oops:
