Ferrari is on a one way street to garbage. Sorry it's harsh but true. Electric crap, space-age designs, similar reference stylings in various models---nothing unique and all toy cars. I think it is embarrassing they chose to call this a Testarossa. That brings the name down substantially.
there are some nice and interesting things, rear 3/4 look nicer than sf90. and overall shape is good. that black strip though... Got a filling the more we dislike it the more they highlight it.
So it seems like the supercar makers are all building the same damn car (TT V8 with electric motors) but with a different body. No other differentiation. Ironically the fight to hold off on full electrification has lead to just as much uniformity. Everybody has 1000 hp with the same powertrain. Yay. Ironically, the most interesting car now is the Corvette Z06 or even the ZR1.
I’m trying to understand why I would ever trade out my F8 for an SF 90 or this new Testarossa. Better to get an 812 or back into a Huracan (I’m not excited about Lambo’s replacement for that either)
I think dealers haven’t heard about allocations and client requirements yet, so how can it be sold out?
it's kind of a misplaced arrogance I think, if they did any actual customer focused research then they'd quickly find out everyone dislikes it and thinks it's a bad idea
They may be already planning to charge for a replacement update, like with the steering wheel haptics
Not a positive reception online at all. I’d say at least 70% of the comments I see are negative. Was there ever a time in Ferrari’s history where the majority of people thought their car was ugly? I can’t recall this ever being the case but maybe I’m wrong. I know something is not right when I get texts from all my professional design friends saying WTF! What happens to a Luxury company when the majority of people don’t lust after their wares? Now if I’m a wealthy potential buyer and I see that most people find their car “ugly” how does that affect my decision to buy or not? Between design and F1 Ferrari is currently navigating some dark waters IMO.
yes, the f80 got extremely bad responses to the design with it's odd lego styling. the 12c had quite a bit too but not as much this is by far the most negative i've seen ever for an fcar though
I like the looks/shape except for that dang black stripe piece across the front Ferrari likes. Ferrari, please go read comments all around the internet. Yes most are from people that will never buy a 849 however their opinion does matter. The SF90 looks grew on me and at 1st I liked it less than this 849 which I like better right off the start.
have not owned a Ferrari... have driven many Porsches and Astons and have been wanting to buy either an F8 or SF90 spider... was waiting for this launch to make my decision... the silver lining to his hideous thing is that my decision is now easy... I'll wait for an F8 or SF90 in the spec I like and just buy that.. hopefully there are enough people out there who like this... thing.., that there is selling pressure on used Fs... although this thing is so ugly, I doubt it. I can't believe I waited all this time for this... oh well
Sorry, could someone explain why it has black wheel arches on the rear wheels but not in the front ones?
You have hit on my point above. Some people like to discredit all the negative comments by saying "those people can't afford it anyways". While this is true, there has to be a tipping point where potential buyers are hesitant to buy something that the average person so overwhelmingly finds distasteful. Although I don't believe anyone should buy a car to impress others one cannot deny it's a major driving force behind exotics. Who wants to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on something that doesn't turn heads or gets whispers behind the back of "that's ugly as hell."? IMO the whole mystique of Ferrari is that it is something people aspire to and lust after. Take away that wow factor and it's just another overpriced car in an already saturated market of better looking options.
Another name for the 848 TR- The MANZONI THING. It’s a disservice to the original VW Thing car however. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I’ve come to accept that Ferrari is no longer interested in making designs that are easy for everyone to love at first sight. I suspect it’s because there are only so many sporty car shapes that nearly everyone can accept as “beautiful”….AND provide the kind of aerodynamics that the performance envelope of the car requires. So instead they “go for it” and challenge us with nearly EVERYTHING! I seem to recall some negative reactions to the SP3 Daytona upon its debut. And a year or so after, eyes and viewpoints adjusted and now its a design darling. In time the 12C may get the same adjustment. What was once shocking to the eye can eventually become pleasing. And the daring nature of a shape or an element can become appreciated, especially in comparison to other cars that may look boring in comparison. And with that being said, the new Testarossa does indeed challenge me. I actually like/love nearly everything about it….except for the vertical band that breaks the flow of the shape from front to rear and seems to act like suspenders that are pulling up the waistline in a less than graceful way. I have no doubt there was a LOT of debate about this element. And since it is here on the final design, I can only suspect that it is hear to dare you to accept it. It serves no other function in the design that I can see but to agitate and challenge. So I spent time in the configurator hiding the shape with black and dark blue paint. Only to realize that defeats the purpose. I’m eager to see if I will “come around” to this design element. Since so many comments are bemoaning the lack of “Testarossa” side strakes, I sat down and tried to incorporate them and “adjust some of the design cues to become easier for others to accept….and still keep the essence of the new car as presented. Sorry, the drawing is crude, but I had fun with it…
Elkann and Vigna are essentially dismantling Ferrari piece by piece, and their recent offerings are trolling at its finest. They know they can put any monstrosity out there with a badge on it, and the wealthy will buy it so they can say they did. The Ferrari we all know ~ is long gone. P.S. Manzoni is lazy..
Luckily Elkann will be busy with his community service for the foreseeable future. One can only hope the organization sees it as an opportunity to ignore his wishes... https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ferrari-chair-john-elkann-agrees-community-service-end-tax-fraud-case-2025-09-08/
